Just think for a moment about how absurd this is. People fought remote school during a pandemic, but now it is necessary (and it is!) to cope with the actions of the federal government.

The anti-ICE backlash matches a broader decrease in support for Trump’s immigration agenda.

Stop the lies.
Yesterday Elon Musk retweeted "white solidarity is the only way to survive". In our numb overwhelmed media environment it barely made headlines that the world's richest man endorsed blood-curdling white nationalism. My brief writeup for @religiondispatches.org

On Thursday morning Elon Musk retweeted (with a ‘100%’ endorsement) a post declaring that: If white men become a minority, we will be slaughtered. Remember, if non-Whites openly hate White men while...

In the last month there have been increased signs of pushback, including a very important one in Trump v. Illinois. But between the Venezuela attack and its aftermath, and ICE now just murdering protestors, it seems to me that things are getting worse faster overall.
The rage that has to exist in the average Minnesotan to watch someone stuck on an icy hill and STAND BY AND TAUNT THEM
This morning in Minneapolis, an ICE vehicle got stuck on an icy hill in a residential neighborhood. Agents had to push the vehicles out, some almost slipping in the ice themselves.

Jason Stanley is one of three Yale profs who left Trumpland to teach at U of T. In his first op-ed for @thestar.com, he says Canadians need to wake up and smell the fascism: www.thestar.com/opinion/cont...
I left Trump’s America last year to teach in Canada. I didn’t expect this from Canadians
During my short time here, I have encountered a shocking level of naïveté about what is happening in the United States.

Oh, let me try again. Rats.

Here's a gift link to the Jason Stanley piece, which says Canadians are naive about American fascism.

The United States is no longer a friend to Canada, but a threat.

(How worried am I? I have even looked up voluntary military service, but I'm too old.)

Canadian unemployment stable at 8.2% but youth (15-24) unemployment now up to 13.3%.

Not quite early 1990s levels, but things haven't been this bad for this long for over 30 years.

The United States is no longer our friend. It's a threat and must be treated as such.

TIL that 67% of German undergraduate students take longer than three years to finish their three-year degree programs (In Canada, 55% or so take longer than four years to finish a four-year program)

So toss on-time completion on the pile of things that free tuition doesn't necessarily make better.
I'm sorry, help me out here, but did this dingus go public about his event being "cancelled" when it was never booked in the first place? You don't get to INVITE YOURSELF to a university and proclaim it a free speech issue! www.thecanadianpressnews.ca/politics/con...

Asked in a wide-ranging interview with The New York Times if there were any limits on his global powers, Mr. Trump said: “Yeah, there is one thing. My own morality. My own mind. It’s the only thing that can stop me.”
