All servicewomen serving in combat roles already have to meet stringent gender-neutral physical standards.

But Secretary Hegseth is intent on smearing those women as unqualified — and pushing all women out of military service.
Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth Moves to Push Women Out of the Military
From eliminating the Pentagon’s gender advisory committee to misrepresenting women’s combat readiness, Hegseth’s record shows a clear campaign against women in uniform.

Happy to talk, but privately. (I'm easy to find at BU for email) Must say: If one has not been a dean, there are bunches of things one wouldn't know about what it takes. But yes, also good to talk about the process of making a match and settling one in.

Why, thank you Br. Larry. And yes, happy to hand out pearls of dubious wisdom.

I got a perfect attendance record in third grade. Almost no-one had ever seen that before. And it wasn't easy.

Thanks for this, Bibi.

If there is a real move toward peace + justice in the Mideast and Trump played any real role I am grateful to him. But no-one responsible for ending democracy in his own country, decreasing justice and increasing corruption and state abuse human beings there is eligible for a Nobel Peace prize. No.

It is pretty galling that the Supreme Court spent four years telling Biden "you can't do that without Congress" then allowed Trump to seize a once-unthinkable amount of power from Congress within nine months and concentrate law-making authority almost entirely in the executive branch.

Can I get one of those watches with it?

Does he think we don't remember that we've been hearing this since early in Trump's first term?

I never thought we could sink so low. Apart from autocracy, that is.

Apart from helping Comey's selective prosecution defense, this also means the president of the United States uses direct messages on Truth Social to communicate with cabinet officials.

I didn't know that, but we can be sure intelligence agencies all over the planet already did.

No, I wasn’t thinking of suspending habeas corpus, but I’m pretty sure he was furloughed during the government shutdown. I’ll have to check.

She needs to write down and read her insults. And, speaking as a former New York City teenager, they weren’t really quality insults.

McGovern: Republicans love to advocate for more work requirements for poor people… Let's have a work requirement for Republicans to show up to congress and do your god damn job.

Chilling insight by @barbarafwalter.com: "Once citizens view their own government’s security forces as an occupying army, violence becomes inevitable. Trump’s team knows this… They’re trying to trigger the very unrest that would justify further crackdowns."

Screenshot from a NYT article by Thomas Edsall, quoting Barbara Walter of UC-San Diego: "The quickest way to piss people off is to send soldiers into their neighborhoods especially when there’s no reason for them to be there. It’s inherently provocative, and Trump and his team understand this. Research by the political scientist Robert Pape shows that the single most powerful predictor of suicide terrorism is the presence of foreign troops on local soil. People hate, hate, hate that. They hate the humiliation, the powerlessness, the feeling of being occupied.

"Once citizens begin to view their own government’s security forces as an occupying army, violence becomes inevitable. Trump’s team knows this. In fact, that’s the point. They are not trying to restore order; they’re trying to trigger the very unrest that would justify further crackdowns. In the end, violence serves their ultimate end: They want to create the illusion of disorder so they can tighten control and stay in power indefinitely."
