We have to be clear about what the Trump Administration is doing: They are taking basic American virtues and freedoms — the ability to speak truth to power and freely — and turning them into crimes. We must see through this.
This guy is in Minneapolis standing before an American citizen in an SUV.

The only reason he's brandishing an assault rifle is because he wants the people he's purportedly there protecting to feel terrorized by his presence.

This is not protection. This is occupation.

If McConnell had allowed the GOP-controlled Senate to impeach Trump after January 6, 2021, none of this would be happening.

Republicans MUST be punished for their corruption and the damage they're inflicting on the United States by losing their seats in Congress.

VOTE OUT ALL REPUBLICANS IN 2026.
It’s beyond insane that our overarching internal security agency has spent months tweeting barely-coded messages of support for neo-Nazi groups and the entire media apparatus looks at it and says “That’s odd but certainly not part a major story that is relevant to current events, I’m sure”
A Black man was killed by ICE (off duty) in Los Angeles on New Year’s Eve. And like Renée Good, he was an American citizen. But most people have not heard about Keith Porter.

I need y’all to realize this. Black people experience this lack of visibility all the time when it comes to being victims.

Democrats should demand the dismantling of ICE, congressional hearings into its operations and prosecution of its worst offenders, but at the VERY least they must refuse to spend our tax money to fund these masked goons who are terrorizing our communities.
I think it is probably a bad idea to put clearly unhinged, angry psychopaths in federal law enforcement positions.
Minneapolis, after the murder of Renee Nicole Good.
Philadelphia sheriff Rochelle Bilal:

“No law enforcement professional wears a mask…No law enforcement professional shoots at a moving vehicle.

“What Trump’s private army is doing…is not only against legal law, but moral law.”

Vows to arrest agents on site who commit crimes.

We are inundated right now. They are trying to normalize violence. Thinking about Kent State and its legacy. Where are we now?

Who wants to go to a Kennedy Center run by a guy who justifies the shooting of Renee Good?

Rep. @AOC: I understand that Vance believes shooting a young mother of three in the face three times is an acceptable America that he wants to live in, and I do not. That is a fundamental difference between Vance and I. I do not believe that the American people should be assassinated in the street.

The training/testing ground has been police violence against Black Americans. The police used the fear excuse for a long time. I am thankful to all who, as it is now clear, risk their lives to record these incidents of violence.

The U.S. economy lost 8,000 manufacturing jobs in November, marking the 8th consecutive month of manufacturing job losses since Donald Trump took office.
It sounds like these goondas are being told that 18 U.S.C. 111 means they can arrest anyone who protests or “opposes” them. They seem to have missed the “forcibly” part. Also, not for nothing, but this crime is a misdemeanor www.law.cornell.edu/uscode/text/...
Something I always wondered is how it would be covered if America became a dictatorship

Every DA in every big city in America should be saying this right now, and be fully prepared to back it up.

From MN & Chicago to Caracas & NYC, the administration is trampling our freedoms to entrench a rule of bullies for billionaires. We must stand together against these criminal attacks on families both here and abroad. Rule by kings is over. 🚫👑

Yes, JD. Let’s ask them if they think a stay at home mom, avowed Christian, and widow of a veteran deserved to be shot in the face and left to bleed out in her own car after dropping her 6-year-old off at school, for the crime of looking out for her neighbors. Let’s ask everyone running for office.
"An analysis of footage from three camera angles shows that the motorist was driving away from—not toward—a federal officer when he opened fire."

Great video analysis of Minneapolis shooting from NYT. These frames show drawing of gun and exact moment of first shot.

I worked with the Biden White House and DOJ to develop a policy on when can federal police shoot at a moving vehicle. DOJ adopted it in 2022, and as far as I know, it hasn't been repealed. Here's what it says:

"Firearms may not be discharged solely to disable moving vehicles. Specifically,... (1/4)

We had a chance to vote in a brilliant, badass prosecutor who promised to do just that but too many folks on the right AND the left were happy to let their misogyny rule their heads and hearts, so here we are

This is much bigger than failing to lower costs, @klobuchar.senate.gov

Given this and statements by @schumer.senate.gov et al, I am not sure @democrats.org grasp the severity and urgency of the moment.

This! But Americans suffer from chronic amnesia.

Warren: "Republicans seem to be able to engage in only one action -- bow down to Trump. And until we either get some Rs on our side, which doesn't look likely, or hit that election in November & get D majorities in the House and Senate, we have a president who has no restraints on what he's doing"
Reformed January 6th participant (who refused a pardon): “You can't gaslight me. I was there. I saw the officers being pepper sprayed. I watched one of them fall down and hit his head and his back. So don't be telling me it wasn't violent.”

But that's exactly the plan, isn't it?

Today marks 5 years since Trump incited the deadly attack on our Capitol.

Ever since, Trump has tried to downplay January 6, pardoning the rioters who assaulted brave law enforcement officers.

We must continue to defend our democracy and never let this history be erased.
