One thing I'm learning about my academic self: I really have never been able to multitask. I would kill to somehow figure to balance projects, teaching, email, committees, writing, and not falling behind on basically everything.

In a way Trump and Mamdani are similar. They are both populists fighting against the elite, it's just who they see as "the elite" differs.

Mamdani sees the elite as the billionaires who control the economic, political, and social systems of society.

Trump sees the elite as people who read books.

The right wing playbook in Europe, the US, and now conservatives in Canada: vilify refugee claimants, and immigrants seeking a better life. Weaken due process and blame immigration for crime, cost of living and who knows what else. It is so tiring and insulting.
