I’m sure. Though I saw that segment enough—should have been titled “whatever it is, I don’t like it if it’s from the 20th century”—to hear his voice and delivery loud and clear reading it.

This is a classic of a very peculiar genre.

In 2025, a new religion was formed among the denizens of Bluesky—one whose path to wisdom centered on the principle: “Live as though at any moment you might be asked to clarify what you meant by that.”

This thread … well there’s no preparing you for them except don’t read if on a Zoom call and try to pretend you’re working.

I do like the competitive “we can make the circularity even clearer” competitor among the infographic peeps.

Yeah. Maybe while I don't go full PJs, I find it adorable when people do and totally appropriate given that it's not like I'm going to wear a suit while getting sealed into a very fast tin can.

Close enough! :)

Really important to stress that the Crown Jewels of the US higher education system were never the Ivies or elite SLACs (other countries have equivalents of these) but the well-funded, large, cheap, and excellently staffed public state university systems bringing high quality education to the masses.
One of the bragging rights that the US ed system had in the 20th century is that we didn't have education tracks. Essentially, any kid could go to a CC or state school & major in whatever they wanted to (obviously an oversimplification). I fear this aspect of the American dream is dying.

This reminds me: is Olivia Nuzzi from Long Island? And if not, is she an honorary Long islander now?

This is an all-time pro tip.

Ha!

I’ve wanted to read these for many years. Coming next month from University of Chicago press.

Massive shoutout out to whoever handles the Royal Canadian Air Force’s social media account. They responded to every single comment on their already very solid Trans Day of Remembrance post and they responded like this…

In case the feeling you’re having a stroke has abated

TRUMP: and this Daniel, he went into the den?

MAMDANI: The lion's den, yes

TRUMP: surely they ate him

MAMDANI: Here's the part where it gets a little Broadway: they didn't

TRUMP: Unbelievable

Not enough people come on Bluesky for the personal finance tips ;)

I love stories like this—you know, the type of story where you don’t fish in the same pond as everyone else and come back with quite the catch…seriously, though, good piece.

I bet there’s someone with a tariff review due who has gotten by with constant delays since April saying “I was about to turn it in but…”

It also boggles the mind the cope on that side to think they can just invent and pass a new health care system in a month—a holiday month mind you—after years of being unable to pass anything, and somehow avoid the disaster awaiting so many Americans.

This is what people in the U.K. think American recommendation letters read like.
