This is the sort of statement that was expected from every university president and law firm partner over the last year. That those statements weren’t made played a huge part in where we are now and people will remember.
Jerome Powell: "This is about whether the Fed will be able to continue to set interest rates based on evidence and economic conditions—or whether instead monetary policy will be directed by political pressure or intimidation."

I am counting the days until my kid is out of braces and I won't find tiny rubber bands that have been in his mouth all over my house, including in the dryer, on the kitchen table, and (just now) on the pillow I'm lying on on the couch right next to my head. WHYYYYYYYYY?????? 🤢

Thank you for telling us you neither serve nor protect. Thank you for saying the quiet part out loud. That was state murder in broad daylight, captured from multiple angles by multiple witnesses, and the people of Minneapolis have eyes.

You support murder.

Over the holiday season, my son discovered the absurd delights of the Hallmark Channel. While I thought he was mostly watching it ironically, I realized tonight how into Mistletoe Murders he actually is and I am SO THERE FOR IT!

It was Barack Obama who first appointed Tom Homan as an associate director of ICE and even gave him an award. And as recently as June 2025, 75 Democrats in the House voted for a resolution to show “gratitude" to ICE. Are they still grateful now?

I am aware of a situation involving CBP agents shooting two people outside of Adventist Health Hospital in Portland this afternoon, and I am in communication with state and local officials. As details continue to emerge, I urge all Oregonians to remain calm and peaceful. [1/2]

Another image that sums up the protest.
The scale of the protests in Iran are absolutely unbelievable. Hard to quantify, but I've seen some speculation that this uprising is more significant than the 2023 protests (themselves the largest challenge to the regime since it came into power in '79.)

There are a ton of great-looking books coming in 2026, and I've rounded up the ones that I'm looking forward to the most, including space operas, interstellar art heists, unicorns, dinosaurs, and plenty more.

NOTAMS (warning to pilots) have been issued across Iran. Suggests something big might be happening.

Thank you for this. I was incandescent with rage at the NYT for this piece, given that they have not only fueled trans hate, but essentially whitewashed it, making it seem fine for "liberals" to throw trans people under the bus too. Her blood is on your hands @nytimes.com.
The state Bureau of Criminal Apprehension says they've been informed by the FBI that US DOJ has said FBI will solely lead the investigation into Renee Nicole Good's killing by a federal officer. State investigators no longer have access to "case materials, scene evidence/investigative interviews"

The only way to get accommodations at my workplace is through an onerous, costly & privacy-violating process that requires documentation from one's doctor and takes months. I did it many years ago (migraines) and found it totally dehumanizing. Much easier to just take a sick day on in-service day.

No. The February all-day meeting is in-person only. The Fall and Spring meetings will be half-day and hybrid.

do I really push back on this (again)? To me, this feels like holding a meeting at a place only accessible by stairs when you know you have a worker in a wheelchair. Being immunocompromised is a disability. But the difference is, I COULD actually go, it would just be very dangerous for me. Help?

suggestions and I'll unfortunately be at a doctor's appointment during the meeting when the proposal will be discussed (the very meeting last year where I disclosed my illness to advocate for safety - sigh...) so I'm not sure what to do. Do I just tell her I can't attend the meeting or...
