Here's a periodic reminder that it's just barely feasible to find a job in the infrastructure intended to make archaeological research possible, but not a job where you get paid to do the research for which that infrastructure is set up.

It's like if there were jobs for janitors and cloakroom […]

I never imagined "I'm rubber and you're glue / whatever you say bounces off me and sticks to you" would turn out to be a viable strategy in US political discourse

There is a renewed conversation around this, but for those not aware, this has been a very common abuse tactic during the last big Twitter/X-to-fediverse migration.

You can actually post a followers-only post, tag a non-follower, and only that person and your followers will see it.

Perfect for […]

This is good —the Mayor of Yellowknife NWT in Canada’s far north weighs in on “Car Bloat” (truck bloat actually) and its many big costs & consequences (thanks @davidzipper.bsky.social for heads-up). And like most who dare tell the truth about that, he’s taking flack.

Happy Anniversary of the Battle of Cable Street, to all decent people.

The people of East London rallied to Cable Street on the 4th October 1936 and forced back the march of the fascist
Oswald Mosley and his Blackshirts through the streets of the East End.

Was pulling together a lecture last night. Normally I try to pull interesting visuals from unsplash but I was searching for screenshots of things like fidonet etc ideally from 80s. Image search via the usual suspects is pretty sloppified now, wow. Guess I shouldn't be surprised.
