You cannot mutual aid state capacity

We need strong public systems and we need caring, responsive communities and also having strong public systems gives the people in our communities the capacity to show up for one another.
ppl are bringing up food banks and yea absolutely you should give generously to food banks and panhandlers but like you cant mutual aid state capacity. If every food bank in the us got their annual revenue already, saved 100% of it, and no overhead besides food they might be able to provide 2 months
40 odd million people use SNAP. 7 million WIC. food banks are already way down because of funding cuts. It’s going to be catastrophic
I have a contractor coming over this afternoon to take some measurements of my rooftop and I feel like I should tidy up before he gets here, but I don't wanna. 😫

After nearly two decades in Chicago, Silverio Villegas González returned to Michoacán, Mexico in a coffin.

His death at the hands of ICE agents in Franklin Park left his family shattered with grief, and unanswered questions. @southsideweekly reports: blockclubchi.co/4nbo28H

As most are aware by now, ICE is slamming the north side today. They've been seen in Andersonville, Rogers Park, West Ridge, Edgewater + Evanston. Several people abducted, agents still active.

Shared with permission—rapid response whistle team at Bryn Mawr & Broadway this morning.

what will remain of the U.S. public sector is prison guards, ICE violence workers, soldiers and cops.

They'll cast these rallies as "angry" but everyone there is plainly having a great time because it's fun to get together with like-minded people to engage in the oldest American tradition: telling a tyrant to eat shit

1000+ neighbors showed up for the #NoKings rally on Sheridan rd in Edgewater today
Feel free to meet us at LaSalle and Van Buren at 11am. And if you haven't yet, call your legislator through our tool at savetransit.org
Anyways, Better Streets Chicago is going to be handing out thousands of palm cards today because huge masses of people taking transit is actually a tremendous opportunity for mobilization. You know, if you're actually plugged in and organizing and not just reveling in your own cynicism.
Seeing a lot of "No Kings is meaningless because it's non-violent" hot takes from folks who have yet to get their asses to Broadview.

The DHS Twitter has been tagging and calling out a local journalist writing on immigration in Chicago. Local journalists covering what’s happening need continual support especially as they write these important stories.
To be fair, I can probably name several things we should have parades for but currently don't.
saw this clip of the NYC mayor debate and i had tears in my eyes, perhaps the most insane section of any debate ever
