Mr. Scorsese, Rebecca Miller's five hour documentary about Marty, is a god damn delight. So many great stories, a real mix of reverence and analysis. My favorite part is all the storyboards, which began when he was a child. It boggles my mind how anyone can think that way, or have that vision.

People are saying that? It’s like they never heard a love song before.

A single nuclear warhead, of unknown origin, is heading toward the U.S. mainland in Kathryn Bigelow's new Netflix film. It's an unnerving scenario — but it's also thrilling to watch. n.pr/48przga

Good God, Lemon, why would you go there? So you can chat with a fireman’s son? The Saudi government already gifted me a bejeweled bone saw, what more do you need?

The influence of The American Petroleum Institute and the National Automobile Dealers Association is hard to shake, and they have a vested interest in maintaining our dependence on fossil fuels.

I hope you and Ramona see it! Would love to know what you think.

If I ever program a film festival, I want to call it “For True Sickos only.” Stuff that is *actually* subversive and upsetting, rather than the geek shows that genre fans embrace easily.

No screening would be a success unless there was at least one walkout.

I don’t get quoted in trailers as often as my colleagues, but when I do, it is for gloriously tasteless films.

“AI is here to stay” is the new “I’ve done my own research.”

I loved Raoul Peck’s “I Am Not Your Negro,” so I was disappointed and frustrated by his follow-up “2+2=5,” a documentary about George Orwell’s prescience that makes the kind of connections and insight you might find in a mediocre high school term paper.
Did You Know Today’s Politicians Sound Orwellian? A New Documentary Doesn’t Think You’re Smart Enough to Make That Connection.
In Orwell: 2 + 2 = 5, director Raoul Peck explores the legacy of the dystopian novelist with all the depth of a term paper.

Last week I watched The Last Slumber Party, now I’m watching The Slumber Party Massacre. Damn it, the continuity has me all confused.

Bari Weiss introduced herself to CBS News staff today on the network's 9AM call, saying she wants to "win," which requires restoring trust to CBS. She also said she was excited for staff to get to know the Free Press, and ended her remarks by saying: "Let's do the fucking news."

Review to come, but this was facile and didactic to a fault. Put another way:

The doc told me to reject the evidence of my critical thinking skills. It was its final, most essential command.

Tonight I see 2+2=5, the new documentary about George Orwell, while living in DC during a shutdown and *waves hands* all THIS. The Q&A after will be moderated by Terry Moran, who was fired from ABC News for describing Stephen Miller accurately.

Does “Orwellian” even have any use? Guess I’ll see!
