Here we go!

Over 13,000 H-1B workers have joined 200+ land-grant, sea-grant, and R1 research institutions so far this fiscal year.

I also found that public institutions in large, Republican states are disproportionately affected by Trump's $100,000 H1-B fee.

EXCLUSIVE: A new analysis by The Xylom's @alexip718.com shows for the first time just how much America’s top research institutions have grown to depend on H-1B skilled workers — and how this delicate balance might be disrupted by U.S. President Donald Trump’s crackdown on legal immigration.

in which a sitting justice on the Pennsylvania Supreme Court seems to imply he’s worried about whether there’ll be a presidential race in 2028 boltsmag.org/pennsylvania...
Speculating on Republican motivations, Dougherty said at his Chestnut Hill event that he expects the court to continue playing a major role in election law: “The theory is that we have to deal with a congressional election in 2026, and there’s preparation regarding gerrymandering for the next presidential election—should there be one.”

I don’t think it’s good that we have an entire class of media elites who believe that people getting mad at them means they’re doing a good job, but identifying that makes me wonder if it’s actually better to not get mad at them and deprive them of what they want.

Almost one year ago, a service collapse during Atlanta Pride 2024 saw trains come every 42 minutes, creating mass confusion and delay. This led to @thexylom.com's investigation on marta's weekend service crisis, prompting the agency to increase service for the first time in two decades.
Atlanta Takes No Pride in MARTA’s Weekend “Special Schedules”
Tracking-related service cuts have affected Atlanta almost 80% of the weekends since Oct. 2023, taking nearly 5,500 trains out of service.

A 13-year-old boy was arrested by Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents in Everett after an interaction with members of the Everett Police Department and sent to a juvenile detention facility in Virginia, according to his mother and immigration lawyer Andrew Lattarulo.

The boy’s mother, Josiele Berto, was called to pick her son up from the Everett Police Department on Thursday, the day he was arrested. After waiting for about an hour and a half, she was told her son was taken by ICE, Berto told the Globe in a phone interview.

“My world collapsed,” Berto said in Portuguese.

From the police department, the boy was taken to ICE’s holding facility in Burlington on Thursday evening, where he spent a night before being transferred by car to the Northwestern Regional Juvenile Detention Center in Winchester, Va., on Friday morning, his mother said. The juvenile facility is more than 500 miles away from Everett.

The boy is a 7th-grader at Albert N. Parlin School in Everett, his mother said. The teen and his family, who are Brazilian nationals, have a pending asylum case and are authorized to work legally in the United States, Lattarulo said.

Good news for Atlanta transit riders: marta will be running *expanded* service this weekend as part of @atlantapride.bsky.social, with trains every six minutes.

This is the first time they have ever done such an arrangement outside of Labor Day Weekend, according to data gathered by @thexylom.com.
