The truly big among us are using PowerPoint or Keynote.

And then there’s Apple Music. You ask Siri to play a song, and in many cases, it gives you a remixed version or a version from another artist, not the original. Like, what? Shouldn’t the original be the default instead of some unheard-of remix? It’s just all so stupid with Siri. 🤦🏽‍♂️
Is this the start of Siri being functional? No more “Hmm—something went wrong,” or “There was a problem with the connection”? There must be a case study on how Apple dropped the ball on Siri/AI out there.

Why settle for one when you could have two lighthouses?

The heat is genuinely oppressive out here right now, and it’s only going to get hotter as the day progresses. Cool yourselves, people! And watch out for the wildlife. 🥵

Die notwendige Kurskorrektur zur Wiederherstellung des Vertrauens in die von den USA geführte Weltordnung rückt immer weiter in die Ferne.
GERMAN PRESIDENT STEINMEIER:

“.. the United States has broken with the values that it helped to establish ..

“.. we have now moved beyond the stage where we can lament the lack of respect for international law or the erosion of the international order; we are far beyond that, I believe.”

One would think there are gains from trade to be had all along that line.

Good evening from Wollongong. 😎

Third, it's true: some immigration researchers' choices do bias their results.

A key example is Borjas (2006).

Peri & Sparber (2011) show that Borjas chose a regression specification that generated spurious negative correlation between immigration & native employment.

I will take that if that’s an option!

America, the rogue state—in more ways than one!

So, now that I’m po(a)sting again (occasionally) on Bluesky, can someone please tell me how to change the date format from the nonsensical MM/DD/YYYY to the more elegant DD/MM//YYYY?

Well, look, if we’re given the budget, why not? 🤷🏽‍♂️

Are you kidding me?! Ghost of Tsushima is seriously impressive.

Honestly, that sounds marvelous.

Congratulations, my friend. 🎈 When are you coming to visit my town again?

Oh, BTW, Jan is now an Associate Professor—an unsurprising promotion that warms my heart! 🥰 Congratulations! 🎊
My greatest 2025 accomplishment is that I pushed through a (very mundane) request that was summarily rejected by our central HR.

Becoming Associate is nice and all that, but Jan vs. Kafka was the true fight of the year. 🤜🤛
