The average age of U.S. homebuyers is now 56, up from 49 last year.

In 1981, the year trickledown economics began, it was 31.

Brian Schatz: "This is not about money. There is enough money to bail out Argentina with $20b. There is enough money to purchase a brand new aircraft for $173m for Noem. There is enough money to renovate the WH ballroom. What there isn't enough money for under this Republican government is you."

UPDATE: Trump has begun demolishing parts of the White House to build his $250 Million ballroom, despite claiming they wouldn’t do that.

Remember April 2009 when about 250,000 people took to America’s streets in Tea Party rallies and the media was like “oh man, the Dems are in trouble?” Approximately 28X as many people took to the streets to protest Trump yesterday. Didn’t even make the NYT front page.
In April of 2009 I observed the Tea Party rally in Salem. As this front page story says, there were a couple hundred people there. This past weekend in Salem there were roughly 2-3000 people at the Hands Off rally. Yet the Tea Party coverage seemed to take that event far more seriously.

Spotify is running ICE ads. I went to cancel on mobile and saw that this isn’t allowed on mobile. They make you cancel on desktop. You think that’s gonna stop me, Spotify? I will erase you and forget you ever existed.

THOU SHALT CANCEL SPOTIFY!!!
Its why we keep ours up year round, despite multiple vandalism incidents.
Who else feels safer in a neighborhood full of pride flags?

I’ll start. 🏳️‍🌈 🙋🏻
Good exploration of the interplay of purity testing and organizing, as found both in faith and in politics.

It is a tricky thing to navigate, I think the guiding star to it is the pragmatic implementation and experience of folk in the present.
1/ There was a photo of one of the protests here in St. Louis--a gathering of folks on a highway overpass that gets a ton of traffic.

Someone commented, "They're not even blocking the street or disrupting. Typical liberals."

At the downtown march, the local communist party seemed very involved.
I realize that all the "we are going to win" inspiration posting codes as aesthetically liberal (being left is being unimpressed) and invites the responses you'd guess from a certain genre of more radical than thou poster but still surprised at the particular condescension strategies people go for

Great context of where the tradition roots Vance wants to claim, don't ring true to him. Per @andybeshearky.bsky.social , he ain't from here
Religion aside: Vice President Vance claims Scotch-Irish ancestry.

The Scotch-Irish, particularly in Appalachia, were known for their vehement opposition to monarchy and centralized power in general.

Most were Presbyterian, a tradition with a democratic, committee-based polity devoid of bishops.
It is a scandal totally unprecedented in history that the Vice President has shared a video depicting the President as king. It’s an obscene violation of every founding American principle.

And nothing will come of it. It makes me physically sick.
An interesting phrasing turn i heard today listening to @thebulwark.com , "rule by law" is what we've transitioned to. Law as a tool to be wielded by authority powers for power.
As opposed to the faith of democracy which is "rule of law", a framework of operation that every agrees to and follows.

BREAKING: Pope Leo XIV is set to effectively disband Opus Dei in the coming weeks.

This would be the most sweeping internal reform of his pontificate — and a dramatic continuation of Pope Francis’s legacy.
NEW: Pope Leo Set To Break Up Opus Dei
If Pope Leo does indeed approves a plan that effectively dissolves Opus Dei’s structure, it would be the most significant internal action of his short pontificate to date.
