Foone won’t remember me but she helped me once nearly a decade ago when I was in a terrible spot and had few friends that were able. She’s good people and I’m heartbroken hearing this news. Please reskeet / chip in a few if you can.

I've been bedridden for the last 6 months, unable to work as I try to get a surgeon and insurance lined up for my operation to let me work again.

I wrote SACRAO about their 2026 conference theme. Using Harry Potter branding (in fucking Florida, of all places) sends a painful message to trans and gender-diverse colleagues. Rowling’s imagery isn’t neutral anymore.

I’d take the brain damage for the team and start filling up gofundme’s. I’d drop buckets of cash on homeless shelters. I’d buy coats and pajamas for the school programs that pass those out to needy kids. I’d pay off student lunch debt. Etc til the money ran out and or til my brain cells ran out.

Thomas Midgley Jr. (1889–1944) was an American engineer and chemist who contracted polio at age 51, leaving him severely disabled. He devised an elaborate system of ropes and pulleys to help others lift him from bed. He became entangled in the ropes and died of strangulation at the age of 55. However, he is better known for two of his other inventions: the tetraethyl lead (TEL) additive to gasoline, and chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs).

Wife and I worked together this afternoon to meal prep dinner for three households and about a weeks worth of work lunches for me. It’s weirdly relaxing sitting at a table together and chopping up ten pounds of vegetables while chatting about our day.
