I cannot tell you how many tech journalists at prominent media organizations do not understand this
Chatbots — LLMs — do not know facts and are not designed to be able to accurately answer factual questions. They are designed to find and mimic patterns of words, probabilistically. When they’re “right” it’s because correct things are often written down, so those patterns are frequent. That’s all.

CNN’s CEO Mark Thompson reportedly told staff to ease off on coverage of Trump demolishing the east wing for his ballroom after visiting the White House.

Another outlet obeying in advance. Off the cliff we go. 😕 🇺🇸 www.status.news/p/mark-thomp...
It: Welcome to Derry has got me feeling the same way I did when I was 6 years old watching Nightmare on Elm Street.

The creep factor is ON point. I feel like I'm looking at disgusting practical effects and the storyline and kill counts pull ZERO punches.

No—this guy is *proud* to be a bad guy (link); and until we confront the fact that Gen Z Repubs *actively want to be villains, because they think it's hilarious*, we won't have an answer to this mass psychosis.

Right now we're stuck on "Hey, you're actually evil. Gotcha."
They're *way* past that.
Trump’s Chief Legal Defender Vows a ‘Reign of Terror’ — Or Is It All an Act?
Mike Davis could be Trump’s attorney general, and he says he wants to put journalists in gulags and kids in cages. He also says he’s trolling. The line isn’t always so clear.

A bunch of newly activated people in Chicago need to read this. A troubling number of people believe the police "are on our side" because they have largely followed the law and orders they've been given about not helping ICE. The police will never be "on our side." Sometimes, they're just reined in.

New from me: The notion that Charlie Kirk represented speech “done right” is a smokescreen manufactured specifically to distract from the single greatest attack on free speech in the 21st century. Kirk wasn’t simply offering an opinion, he was right-wing power personified.
Charlie Kirk and the Free Speech Hoax
The Right doesn't really care about free speech, and their reaction to the murder of Charlie Kirk proves it.

It’s hard to convey just how much Chicagoans are mobilizing against ICE. Don’t want to downplay the harm, or make it seem like a fair fight. But in neighborhoods across this city, ICE is getting chased by people blowing whistles and shouting. People are running TOWARD ICE to protect their neighbors.

If you’re a journalist who started following me bc of Paul Ingrassia this week, you should start with this story I wrote over a year ago.
I wrote about seeing Paul Ingrassia at a Nick Fuentes rally last year. He threatened to sue me in response. 😭

If you’re struggling to find folks by other means, sure, connect with a local leftist org to try to find cool people who want to do the same kind of disruptive things you want to do.

Then go do that stuff outside of the org.

If you already have those people in your life, you do not need an org.

“Government action here has been extreme in its treatment of an array of normal First Amendment-protected activity as evidence of terrorism; the blunt force effort to treat anti-fascism as terrorism should worry us all.”

My God, this is awful. And likely happening a lot more than we'll ever know.

As part of ICE's Intensive Supervised Appearance Program, Silvia Reyna had to attend regular check-ins with BI Incorporated. Her case specialist at BI repeatedly sexually harassed her for more than a year and a half.
Undocumented woman sues ICE contractor for sexual harassment in Sacramento
The woman, originally from Mexico, was detained after complaining that her case specialist, working on ICE’s behalf, texted her naked pictures and coerced her for sexual favors, her lawsuit states.

Good article on the impacts of ICE raids on rental housing, including landlords, tenants and workers. Evictions & higher rents seem likely.

(One problem with piece: using “housing provider” when “landlord” works just fine and is clearer to most. Hate to see the media adopt landlords’ new PR term.)
ICE activity is stressing Chicago's building managers, who warn rents could rise
Frightened by federal agents, some tenants can't pay rent on time after missing work, while maintenance staff aren't showing up to job sites. Property owners and managers worry continued ICE activity ...

People are being disappeared at a huge volume now. Some aren't showing back up on the radar for days or weeks. I worry that it makes permanently disappearing people into graves almost inevitable. ICE is lawless and acting with impunity.
We are crossing the rubicon into a place where it’s impossible to keep up with the abductions by the Gestapo and that doesn’t feel good.
