I don’t know who needs to hear this but the CDC is being eviscerated right now. America is not going to have any kind of outbreak response capacity after tonight. Americans’ health data is no longer secure. Say goodbye to federal public health in any capacity. It’s a disaster. We won’t recover.

Oh god they wedged the book in; like forcibly wedged it into a scene in the most arbitrary way and also, WHY IS THE BOY SO BORING? Even Ortega can't make this scene interesting. They're talking about ordering pizza. WTF we should be up to our eyeballs in monsters by now, not normal dating drama.

Why the hell in a horror comedy are the actors just standing on a porch on a nice day having a normal people midlife crisis conversation that doesn't actually move anything forward - not even their angst?

The other actors are reprising their roles well enough but the material isn't compelling. They've got nothing to bite into. I'm blaming the script for this mess but I'm a writer so of course that's going to be the thing I'm most critical of.
