A very valid point. I would suggest that IMO this wouldn't really move the needle more towards islamophobia than it already is moving, perhaps making it worth driving a wedge deeper into the crack forming between the far right and Trump. But I'm also not an expert and not affected by it.

Yes Qatar is governed by sharia law. UAE is more complicated but it partially follows sharia.

tmk they can't shadow docket a case with original jurisdiction so they would be forced to rule on the merits with explanations but I'll defer to @stevevladeck.bsky.social on that. My inclination is to make them go on the record ASAP so they can't shadow docket it and then wait 2 years to rule.

NBC News previously reported that department employees found their nonpartisan out-of-office messages were automatically changed to ones criticizing Democrats for the shutdown.

Step 1 of getting this obnoxious practice knocked down accomplished.

First you have to complain to the National Archives and Records Administration. Then you can involve the courts if NARA doesn't do their job.

Email to unauthorizeddisposition@nara.gov, subject line Modification or deletion of emails by IT

Please investigate the new trend of agencies modifying or deleting employees’ electronic messages from the server-side. So far we have now seen this happen twice, first when the Department of Education went in and changed its employees’ out of office messages (https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/trump-administration/education-department-employees-email-automatically-changed-rcna235211), and most recently when the IRS went in and deleted everyone’s copies of an email (https://www.govexec.com/pay-benefits/2025/10/irs-walks-back-retroactive-pay-guarantee-furloughed-feds-one-day-after-making-it/408725/). We believe that any modification or deletion of existing electronic records like this violates the Federal Records Act.

I've never heard olde pronounced as oldie but I'm right there with you on ye. My question for you is, when you pronounce it correctly, do you use a long e or a schwa? Is ye different than thee?
