I'll Do Anything For Love (But I Won't Play Moate, Co. Westmeath Again). Only a couple of years before his 1993 comeback, Meat Loaf was reduced to touring the provincial towns of Ireland: here's a brilliant piece on how that went for him www.loudersound.com/features/mea...

This is a crucial point

And why the ‘stay on X/Twitter so you don’t cede the public square’ is such a nonsense argument

It isn’t Hyde Park, it’s a billionaire controlled algorithm *designed* to spread far right ideologies
A lot that could be said about this but if you look on Twitter it’s noticeable that the replies and quote tweets are *overwhelmingly* telling him he shouldn’t have apologised and even attacking him for doing so. That’s the feedback loop certain users are plugged into now, and it has consequences.
Vermeer makes my heart soar. I wept standing in front of The Little Street.

This is amazing even though I'm not fond of AG-D, who always puts himself central in all he does.

The Irish writer Lee Dunne, who died a couple of years ago, told me that he fought with his publishers for the right to have his books put out in paperback first, as he knew most of his readers couldn't afford hardbacks (he lost).
My strongest book-related belief is that the paperback should come first and then the hardback after for people who want a fancy edition.

So far TODAY Israel has:

- bombed Gaza City
- bombed Khan Younis
- shot and killed five Palestinians in Gaza City
- refused to open the Rafah border crossing
- announced they would once more block aid

This is what a "ceasefire" with Israel looks like. This is what it has always looked like.

An acquaintance was showing me a funny video on his phone yesterday and I noticed that his WhatsApp had two interestingly-named groupchats:

The Lads
