I find it maddening and saddening that any teachers are outsourcing lesson planning, which should be an incredibly creative pursuit—and should also be hyper specific in terms of the teacher as professional with a particular constellation of knowledge, passion, and talents and students w/ the same.

This is perhaps a minor point, but I do think that a 3 or a 4, compared to a maximum of 9, *feels* a lot worse than a C or D with a maximum of an A did. But they are supposed to be set at the same levels.

Yes. Schools and people *do* value other qualities. Any results day it's not the straight 9 kids the most teachers go to to congratulate and console.

Very much 'enjoyed' this.

You also hit on a point that putting children in competition with one another doesn't want to acknowledge - some children will get 3s and 4s, without SEND, and with working hard. I think that is increasingly difficult for parents to acknowledge and schools to say.
