Portland's famous Unipiper was spotted at the Portland ICE protest where he played his bagpipes in front of Santa, Mr. Potato Head, Garfield and more -- all while surrounded by bubbles.

Immediately after the ceremony, the groom was hit by a barrage of pepper rounds from ICE agents and died at the scene.

I hadn't thought of him in years thinking someone finally drove him out to the beach and buried him in the sand up to his chin at low tide.

My review of last month's Grandaddy show at Revolution Hall here in Portland is featured in the new issue of Uncut.
AS Grandaddy take the stage for the second of a two-night stand at this high-school-turned-concert-hall, the front cover of their 2000 classic album The Sophtware Slump appears on the screen above them, but with a handwritten addition: “(More or Less)”. It is a curious caveat. As the goal of this tour is to celebrate that record’s 25th anniversary, is it a cheeky commentary on the band’s inability or unwillingness to completely recreate the sound of the album? A warning that they’ll leave songs from the LP off the setlist? Or a poignant nod to the fact they are touring without bassist and co-founder Kevin Garcia, who passed away suddenly in 2017?

Whatever the reason, it is soon forgotten as the image evolves into a rolling green landscape with blue skies above, and frontman Jason Lytle hits the first chords of “He’s Simple, He’s Dumb, He’s The Pilot”, Sophtware’s slinky opener. No, this isn’t a note-for-note reconstruction of the home-recorded paranoid sprawl of the original album. Lytle’s lyrics of suburban discontent and our fraught relationship with technology may still ring as true as they did in 2000, but the music takes on a more lived-in, human quality – not so much muted as comfortable and well-honed, an understandable outcome as this is the last date of the tour’s first leg.

This is material many of these men know well. Though Grandaddy has been an off-again, on-again concern since the group’s initial split in 2006, their lineup remains impressively steadfast. As ever, Lytle is joined by drummer Aaron Burtch and guitarist Jim Fairchild, both of whom contributed to Sophtware and nearly everything the group has released since. While that trio remain the anchors tonight, particularly on the punchy “Chartsengrafs” and the splashy bursts of volume in “Hewlett’s Daughter”, the support staff on stage, all of whom are established artists in their own right, are vital throughout.

Though used sparingly, Jason Steady’s pedal steel is a shimmering counterpoint to th…

Apparently our newest Nobel Peace Prize winner wrote to fucking Netanyahu for help in overthrowing the government of her own country dawg
The population of Venezuela needs international protection against the widespread and systematic attack to which the Venezuelan regime subjects it. This is demonstrated by the report dated May 29, 2018, submitted by the Organisation of American States to the International Criminal Court. This has served as the basis for nine states, including Argentina, to file complaints against the regime before that international body. We deeply appreciate this effort, which is decisive for the outcome of the Venezuelan tragedy.

I am convinced that the international community, in accordance with the responsibility to protect doctrine, is called upon to provide Venezuelans with the necessary support to bring about the regime change that is urgently needed to restore national and international security. Therefore, I have recently sent letters to several of the world’s leading figures to promote before the United Nations Security Council the adoption of effective protection measures for Venezuela by fostering regime change, a step that necessarily entails strengthening international security. Today I want to ask Israel and Argentina to contribute their expertise and influence to advance a sound and urgent decision-making process in the Security Council.

Such measures are imperative in the face of a hemispheric security hotspot like the one currently posed by the regime oppressing Venezuela. The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees and the International Organisation for Migration have certified that the current refugee crisis of people fleeing Venezuela is the largest in the history of the Americas. Argentina is an example of this crisis, having welcomed hundreds of thousands of our compatriots—a gesture for which Venezuelans will always be grateful. However, we must be aware that without a change of regime in our country, hemispheric and global security will be at risk.

I went ahead and did the starting work for someone who wants to chase this angle. Most right-wing influencers who participated in the "Antifa" roundtable at the White House yesterday have easily provable ties to TPUSA (8 of 12). The other four need a closer look I don't have time for right now.
