And there's really no excuse for it since there's so much literature and academic scholarship on AAVE that easily points this out. But this was never about being knowledgeable and informed and always about devaluing Black culture via new age assimilation and cultural genocide.

I wish we hadn’t pop psychologyed discourse around the DSMV and abusive systems so much

This has always been my beef with mastodon.
If everyone is in a "safe space", that might be good from an immediate safety perspective (eg within a trans instance you can stop transphobia)
But we collectively do not benefit from siloing and isolating everyone, and it doesn't stop overall bigotry

I think that's part of it but the other part is it's men -and in this case especially rich men - and they already don't do those tasks, so they don't see them. This is why we're getting Samsung TV's with ads and not fridges that remind us to eat the lettuce before it spoils

CHICAGO (WGN) - A WGN creative services department employee was detained by two
Border Patrol officers and later released after federal agents swarmed a busy intersection on Chicago's North Side Friday morning, at the height of rush hour.
WGN is not naming the employee, as station policy requires blurring faces and not identifying those who have not been charged with a crime.
Witnesses on site who captured the incident on video spoke to WGN about the moments leading up to the staffer's detainment.

Thomas added that when he made his way down to the scene, around 8:30 Friday morning, he realized there was another person already detained inside the minivan being used by United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents.
"I didn't get his name, although I asked for his name," Thomas said. "He didn't speak very good English. They claimed that the WGN employee was obstructing justice, even though she was, like all of us, just standing there, taking video.'
"
