Here's the problem: CEO life is literally not possible for all 350 million Americans and your job is to make it as close to attainable as possible for the people under you purview. You just... refuse to do it. I am not an expert on morality but imo this is a moral abdication in extremis.

One of the unexpected advantages of working in a job with mostly 18-20 year olds is the continual disabusion of the idea that I am not Old As Hell (TM) and so I can just embrace fully the dad aesthetic.
Was on a video call today with newly hired analysts and had the crushing realization that they're closer to my kids age than mine. Like... a lot closer.

I just randomly ran up on this but tbh this is the most important "hack" or piece of advice I can give to people who want to make a difference: show up to the boring stuff. That's where decisions get made, wheree people are put into place, and ultimately where votes come from or don't.
a strategy for obtaining power is attending boring meetings. it works more than you'd think!

In my old town the GOP had run basically without serious challenge for decades. A bunch of us "millennials" joined the local Dem party and basically asked to help.
We were running it in a year. Within 4 years we had a majority of town seats flipped Dem. A FAR more progressive Dem than old party
