It is common for airlines to trade range for seating capacity on a stretched plane, think the 787-9 and -10.

That’s now the focus for Airbus with the A220-500, reports @jonostrower.com. Think of it as optimized for north-south flying in the US, rather than east-west, or an MD-90 replacement.
