I haven’t flown out of MCO in 25yrs. And boy did it age poorly. Like the worst of a 90s era mall for design. The trams are just a huge time suck. The gate holdings are way too small (36 seats for a 73M9)

The episode where I finally bag the Trislander, plus @airlineflyer.net and I nab one of the wildest landings we’ve ever experienced.
On this week’s AvTalk, @petchmo.bsky.social is joined by @byerussell.com to discuss the sudden closure and sudden reopening of El Paso airspace Wednesday. And @airlineflyer.net and @photojdl.bsky.social report in from the Caribbean on a slice of avgeek paradise. www.flightradar24.com/blog/avtalk-...

And welcome to the Aloft Miami Airport, homes to one of the oddest hotel rooms I’ve certainly ever stayed in.

Absolutely gigantic 10ft ceilings to exposed concrete, which also includes exposed virtually everything else.

Thinking back on the last few days of #avgeek fun, and if I can I always the pilots if they like their plane. And they always land on yes, even if not super enthusiastically.

And just once I really want one of them to say ‘nah bro this thing is a straight up sh*tbox’

Just once.

Love this question…what would you do? And let’s add you can choose between plan that might work and money is no object plans.
If you were to open and operate an airliner, what would you name it, what would the color scene be, and what would your fleet consist of?
February 11, 2026 at 8:46 PM
Well I’ve got 3hrs to MIA and not a whole lot to do.

So I guess I’ll open the floor to an impromptu A(a)MA?

And there goes @photojdl.bsky.social, leaving his mark on Maho Beach on his way outta SXM

Welcome on board AA2837, service from SXM to MIA.

Today’s flight is on a two year old 737 MAX 8.

A sudden 10 day closure of airspace in a major US city like El Paso should be THE STORY, with nothing else getting any air time until at minimum someone within the US government says what’s happening and why.

It barely even registers on CNN’s site. It’s literally the last item before the page ends.
The FAA is closing the airspace around El Paso International Airport in Texas for 10 days, grounding all flights to and from the airport, for “special security reasons."

The FAA's notice did not provide additional details.

In 800ish landings nothing was as wild as this. Absolutely wild. Loved it.
Holy crap, that was insane!

I’ve been on a lot of flights to some interesting places doing what I do, but that was BY FAR the most heart pounding landing. St Barth over the hill with some very interesting crosswinds today. Even the seasoned pilot said today was “interesting.”

Well, this will either end up being one of the wildest successes to date or a pretty big failure. But currently booked this afternoon on the last remaining pax Trislander, or at least so I’m told.

The rub? I’ve got only a 15m connection in AXA and departures from SXM run notoriously late.

It’s time to *probably* fly so back out of the woodwork I come.

Today’s flight is back on Vieques Air Link on their BN2. Weather is supposed to be good but reality seems different. Flight board is full of red and yellow, but mostly to other places.

Hopefully SIG stays open.

Good morning from Isla Grande Airport in San Juan. We’re supposed to be flying out to Vieques but so far the weather has other plans. Check-in desk says weather has the fleet grounded but they’re hoping to get out eventually. Wind forecasts, tho, are not encouraging

Some days my day job is pretty sweet.
New lion cub pics just dropped for CATURDAY! The two females, born Jan 14, got a quick scale check this week—weighing in at 6.5 and 6.8lbs. They're nursing and bonding with mom Ilanga in a quiet off-view maternity den and it'll be a few weeks before they're ready to venture outside. Stay tuned! 🦁❤️
