Those C46s are among the oldest active commercial aircraft in the world. It’d be wild to put one of the P2012s next to it. Almost 80yrs would separate their introduction to service.

I plan to add it on eventually, tho I have done CDV. Gotta try again too for the complete southern set

Luckily I’m also in Seattle most of the time and we should take advantage of that :)

The restaurant has the TV playing the usual Bollywood content and the latest dance number is a one to one shot list of several top gun maverick scenes but if you also added a musical dance component and MiG and Super Pumas.

I didn’t take a photo I was too engrossed I’m sorry.

And I guess that’s it. Flights were very short. In the future I’d try to go longer, namely to Seward, which I’m told is considerably more scenic.

Finishing the day off with a warm bowl of chicken korma at a nearby Indian place. Yum.

And back in Anchorage, where the Aleutian gate agent who I chatted with a few hours ago remarked ‘oh you actually did it, I thought you were joking.’

It feels like a Saab 340 just…I can’t quite put my finger on why

On board Aleutian 1706, service to Anchorage. Yesterday this flight took 12 whole minutes.

As you might expect this feels exactly like a big Saab. Because it is.

All checked in for the return flight. This time it was name, weight, and an ID. No security here either

Also a flight full of vets getting home after an honor trip to DC landed just before our flight got in and they all piled into the bar just as I had to wrap up. Apparently the airport manager bought em all a round. Good on him.

Gate situation here is extremely straightforward.

I would seriously consider giving up a body part to jump seat on this puppy.

And that’s exactly why I want to stay

I knew it was somewhere I wanted to stick around as soon as I saw these. Instant vibe. Know exactly what you’re gonna get.

Haha yes there’s no shortage of that ;)

Inbound is about to land.

I suspect it is not a 747. But I am ready to be surprised.

I really really wish I could stay longer and chill. Great view and fun chatting with locals. But a) I would def get a hangover and b) it ain’t cheap here haha

Despite being a pretty small town this airport is large as far as small town airports go. A lot of service from 3 airlines. Even now in off peak the departure board is filled through the end of the day with flights to ANC. While the flights are short (20m give or take), it saves a 3hr drive.

I’ve got an hour here before turning back with Aleutian. Chilling at the very unique airport bar while watching a few local GA planes beat up the pattern.

Super fun albeit short flight over to Kenai. Really appreciated the right seat opportunity from the pilot.
