wrote something comforting as a little exercise. this is meant to take place after the events of my ongoing wip but this was so cozy i wanted to share. 🙂‍↕️

The garden quiets again, rain fading to mist. Somewhere between the petals and the stones, Miklan thinks he hears the faintest hum of life—patient, unjudging. He lets it be. The presence of rainclouds overhead and his brother is enough to ground him, after moons of fighting just to survive, desperate to know what kind of future Edelgard—the emperor—has in store for Fodlan. The Crest system has officially been abolished, but that doesn’t mean Miklan stands on a pedestal.

It just means that, in his future, his children can live in a world where they’re loved for who they are, not for what they bring to selfish nobles. He glances at Sylvain, kneeling by a patch of clinging petals, a quiet smile tugging at the corner of his lips. For a moment, Miklan just watches him, noticing the ease in his movements, the way he seems to carry hope like a second skin. It’s not loud or flashy—just steady, like the hum of life in the garden—and it reminds Miklan that he doesn’t have to carry everything alone. The light beside him, patient and unwavering, makes the weight of the past feel just a little lighter, the storm just a little less sharp.
