I break things and write detailed reports. Rapid Prototyper. Maker. Apprentice Knifemaker. Sometimes I try to help explain social situations to dudes. Trans rights are human rights and Black lives matter. I love you.

UNTIL IT’S DONE, Ep. 4: Sylvia Rivera

In the 1970s, queer New Yorkers had been pushed to the margins of NYC. Our trans neighbors faced immense cruelty. But in Sylvia Rivera, they found a champion.

As we combat Trump’s politics of darkness, her legacy can light the path forward.

I had a fantastic time volunteering. While I had thought I'd do electronics repairs & maybe a couple of knives it turned out that I was fully booked doing knife/scissor sharpening.

I am looking forward to the next event. I suggested that we host some in more economically disadvantaged neighborhoods

Volunteering at a local library for a free repair cafe run by the waste management service of Louisville; I signed up for electronics (obviously) and tossed in knife sharpening as a side repair and got fully booked for the knives.
A black folding table with sharpening stones, lubricant, a paper towel, some brushes, and various other small things

These are my Dad's old stones; unknown provenance.

Printing presses kept their letters in cases.

Capital letters went in the upper case.
Smaller letters went in the lower case.

This is why we say ‘UPPER CASE’ and ‘lower case.’

Ok, but what did we call them before the invention of the printing press?

MAJUSCULE and minuscule.

It's a kids movie and doesn't have the best plot but I love the music and the visuals and the sheer fun of it.

Might have to watch it again.

(Not excited for Ares; doesn't look promising TBH)

Pretty confused by how TRON became a big-budget movie franchise. Was it a bit hit when it came out? No. Did it become a big hit on video/TV? Also no. Do people have fond nostalgic memories of it? Eh kinda but not really. Was it secretly great and critically acclaimed? No again

Folks, this isn't to any of you specifically because I've seen more than one person doing it.

SUGGESTING THAT A BROWN WOMAN WON THE NOBEL PEACE PRIZE TO REBUKE/TROLL A WHITE MAN

is super duper fucking racist on a pogo stick.

Please do not do that.

Enjoy that it will make Trump mad, sure.

I've been there; one hospital has refused to give me any meds despite it being the 5th or 6th stone I'd had at the same ER until I laid by the toilet on the floor for awhile.

They were mad I couldn't lay still enough for the CT scan. It ended up being a 7mm.

I've had several surgeries and a good chunk of passable stones that didn't hurt bad enough to go to the hospital.

Unfortunately I've had several that really messed me up.

Massive relief. I feel 10 pounds lighter.

I'm just not checking a scale for confirmation. LOL

I have passed somewhere around 32 now. Probably more.

Some hurt more than others.

Just got out of my urologist and for the first time in many years: no kidney stones showing on my x-rays!

Stone free baby!!!!!

Such a relief.
