Two 3d printed tiktaalik skulls. On the left, smaller, white colored, mouth closed, facing camera. On the right, larger, tan colored, mouth propped open with a stick, facing right-ish. A 3d printed model for demonstrating the cranial kinesis (movement) of a hawk skull, with different parts in different colors. A musk deer (a deer-like animal with large upper fangs) skull, tan colored, facing left. Two 3d printed Lined Earwig designs. The earwig is an insect with a reddish head and thorax, a dark abdomen with pincers on the end, tan legs and a pair of tan stripes down the back. Each earwig has a 1-inch (2.5cm) split ring though the abdomen. The left design is facing upish, the right design is facing down. In between them is a US penny for scale.

They've got plenty of bone in the "forehead", where khutu is supposedly taken from. They're enormous (the bird supposedly ate elephants). They would've been seen washed up on the shore and decaying (it crashes on islands and it's flesh putrefies).

I'm no expert here tho; just late-night musings.

Hear me out. Whale skulls are weird looking. And if I saw one without a broad knowledge of animal anatomy, I might assume it's from a bird.

Look at this sperm whale skull. Many whales lack teeth too.

Photo of a sperm whale skeleton, front/side-ish view. The skull long and pointed, kinda like a bird beak.

So I've been reading Chris Lavers' "Natural History of Unicorns"; and am at the part about "khutu". It's likely that "khutu" got applied to bits of horn/bone/tooth of at several different animals. One them being a huge bird that dies and it's flesh putrefies. Could this be a washed up whale carcass?

A pair of green cartoon frogs kissing passionately in front of a rainbow with the words "gay frogs" above and below them Drawing of a smiling but concerned looking sun wearing bit pink and green sunglasses and throwing up a peace sign. The sun is coming out of a setof blobby holes colored with colorful 90's pattern looking shapes (teal, pink, purple, yellow) with the words "existential dread" in purple all around it Painting of a bunch of colorful flowers growing together in a mass. A silly looking cartoon bee with outward facing eyeballs is landed among them, licking a flower intensely with pollen all over its face bust drawing of a giant catfish standing at a lakeon a dock in a red hat and white tanktop holding up a naked man with a hook in his cheek, as if the fish caught the man. It's designed to look like a dating profile with a checkmark and x in the bottom right. His profile reads: gill, 26. location: 10 nautical miles, likes, swimming worms. dislikes, nets, clickbait. bio: pop pop poppop. The logo in upper right is a worm with a hook that reads "hookr" with hearts all around

Digital painting of a winged centaur. He has curly hair and facial beard, and his horse half is white, and extremely furry. His human half is covered in tattoos and white body hair, and he is wielding a mace/hammer weapon that is in the shape of a horse head. Digital painting of a pterosaur-like beast called "Wyvern Of The Sea". Its head, neck and upper torso is mostly white, it has a long yellow bill with sharp tips similar to a snapping turtle, a crest on top of its top beak, and an expandable pouch on its throat, similar to a pelican. There is a voluminous pouch of expandable sac around its neck and chest, similar to a Frigatebird, but it seems more decorative than functional. Its lower torso is a black color, with strong bird legs, that have blue webbed feet, similar to the bird Booby. Its tail is long, with fins running on its side, and on its tips.

It has wings that are more webbed than they are feathered, with a protruding thumb similar to a bat's, and three noticeable digits that are flat than they are wiry. It seems this creature is more reptilian and hydrodynamic, than it is avian and capable of flight. Digital painting of an elegant merman. There is a glow of royal blue coming out of a cavity in middle of his upper torso in the middle that extends to his abdomen, and out of two columns of holes in his bottom portion. His tail seems to be a hollow flesh and the blue magic extends out to form his fish tail. There is a royal blue sword on top of the character; the sword is slim and sharp, and the blade is sculpted to have an impaled fish on its end. fairy with giant blue morpho butterfly wings and a faint halo, holding a lantern that attract butterflies.

I didn’t have time to paint this guy today but I REAAAAALLY wanted to so I made it happen. He’s just a little guy!! 🥹

I think I need to do the series of hummingbirds I keep thinking about.

#Birdtober day 14 is the Costa’s #Hummingbird.

A digital gouache painting of an extremely small, extremely fluffy brownish and cream hummingbird with intense purple and magenta iridescent feathers bracketing his eyes and face. He has a long beak and looks right at the viewer, his super teeny feet gripping a thin branch. Foliage and flowers against a blue sky fill the background. His wings are folded in rest.

Here's a T. Rex bored to death trying to bite their own tail. My partner asked me to animate it in stop motion, after she watched a video about the very important topic of "could T. Rex chew its own tail like a dog". The puppet is still a work in progress 🦖

Koolasuchus cleelandi Illustration!
In this Illustration, I have depicted a scene of koolasuchus making a desperate attempt to flee the dangers of a fellow Koolasuchus. The seasonal flooding has brought new hunting grounds, and so more competition and fights for those hunting ground rights #paleoart
