I will probably never have an experience like this again in my lifetime, so I will always treasure my summer with this family of burrowing owls. 💕🪶

In flight snowy plover sequence. First time I ever got this angle, super rare you can get below the bird, since they're ya know.. in the sand, but luckily they were on a sand... ridge? #birds

Finally got a pic of a bananaquit too 🔥

Dozens of them were chirping when I walked through this morning but I couldn't see a single one

Walking back to my room this evening, the afternoon sun was a great help in spotting one 😄

#birds
Photo of a bananaquit perched in foliage on a thin branch. Underparts are a bright yellow like a banana. Upper wing feathers are a dark blue or black, there is a light gray wingbar, and wing tips are a lighter blue. Its throat feathers are white, and it also has a white "eyebrow" along the top of its head. It has a sharp, slightly decurved beak. Close-up of the first picture. A photo of a rotund brown and tan orbweaver spider hanging in her web at night. The spider has a large abdomen which is tan with 2 columns of 3 black curved markings on either side of the middle. One of the spider's rear pair of legs are visible, slender and banded black and tan. The spider's two front pairs of legs are held tucked close to its body on either side of its head which is obscured in shadow. The spider's web shines from the flash, the background being the black of night.

Lol, maybe Donald Sterling has enough girlfriends to sustain an entire fashion line.

A white sand beach with black lava rock outcroppings and a few noni trees form the foreground of a tremendous Hawaii sunset, the red sun just hitting the horizon and lighting up mid and high clouds

If the crime is that old, he could apply for 212(c) relief, I guess, but he'd never get it in this administration.

Patriciowl's friends, of which she had quite a few, used to call her Trish. Her little sis Samanthowl, who cawed with a lisp, called her Trif. She found this so endearing that when her very rich parents gave her a whole industry complex for her birdsday, she had her nickname painted onto the facade.

Adult Oriental Whip Snakes are usually fluorescent green. I’ve met this blue/green individual a few times over recent months. Stunning morph.

Powla had to admit that her siblings were crap when it came to proper classic ballet. "But you need to dance SOMEhow", she insisted. "All of you." (Including Owlfred, who has no sense of any rhythm at all, she thought.) "Let's do a nice chorus line, shall we?" Most of the others obliged. Sort of.

I saw between 30 and 40 owls out and only two were doing this! This guy didn't even care that I was parked nearby, gawking at him.
