It is with profound sadness that we share that Professor Andrea Evers passed away. Andrea was a visionary leader, a brilliant scientist, and a compassionate colleague.
As we begin to process this immense loss, let us remember Andrea for her remarkable legacy and kindness she brought into our lives.

About 1 year ago, we received NWO funding for our AIM2CARE study, inspired so much by the insights and questions left by John Bowlby. We had pledged at submission to visit his resting place at Isle of Skye. He could not have picked a more beautiful spot.

Only a small % of people engage in toxic activity online, but they’re responsible for a disproportionate share of hostile or misleading content on nearly every platform

Because super-users are so active, they dominate our collective impression of the internet www.theguardian.com/books/2025/j...
Are a few people ruining the internet for the rest of us?
Why does the online world seem so toxic compared with normal life? Our research shows that a small number of divisive accounts could be responsible – and offers a way out

Though AI helps, does it dull us over time? A study from MIT found that regular ChatGPT use weakens memory, focus, and brain activity. 83% couldn't quote their own text. Essays became repetitive. Researchers call it "cognitive debt"—a slow erosion of independent thinking. arxiv.org/pdf/2506.08872

My new Substack is about part-time work for parents. In the Netherlands, 65-75% of mothers work part-time and about 30% of fathers do. Part-time work is supported and even encouraged by the government. Why can’t we pull that off here in the U.S.? open.substack.com/pub/darbysax...
Why don't more U.S. parents work part-time?
Paid work vs. stay-at-home parenting is not a binary choice - many parents want something in the middle. Other countries have figured out how to make it work.
