My answer to "What's you favourite kind of pie?" is "Whatever pie you have on hand."

That being said, I have a particular soft spot for Apple Crumble pie.

I said goodbye to the "longest period of daylight" back after it happened, in June.

I think a lot of people just didn't care and didn't think about it at all. I think this is a desperate marketing gimmick by Lays trying to create attention to gain back market share in a segment that is declining in sales.

It's the most confusing time of the year!
RONA store with Halloween and Christmas decorations out for sale.

Huh. The last, and only Jared Leto movie I have ever seen was Prefontaine.

But to the initial point, people that didn't know/care about the "potato" part of "potato chips" at all ain't buying them for health reasons to begin with.

And... Let's be honest here. Lay's is trying to rebrand their chips as a healthy snack alternative.

Like. Whatever. "Healthier" potato chips are something the market has been trying to sell for a few generations now.
catelli.bsky.social
And I also care about the price... Which, has gotten so high, that I don't eat nearly so many potato chips anymore.
Which is the last line of the story "Consumers in every income bracket have been ditching classic snack brands amid rising prices."

So it's not just me. "It's the economy, stupid."

This story has an untested theory that is taken as a given. If consumers knew that potato chips were made from potatoes, they would then buy more.

As a potato chip consumer, I actually don't give a rats ass that it is made from sliced potatoes. I care about the result.

Lay's drastically rebrands after disturbing finding: 42% of consumers didn't know their chips were made out of potatoes | Fortune
New bags—matte-ified and designed to look like wood planks (like a potato crate)—will hold the chips with revamped ingredient lists.

Unsolicited tacit pic.
Question "Do you agree?" with "Yes" being checked off with a pen.

Zohran Mamdani is the type of politician we need a lot more of.

He's also the type of politician that challenges the status quo, and thus is hated by everyone interested in preserving the status quo.

He's also the kind of leader that the NDP needs here in Canada...

I have actually never seen a politician say anything even remotely like this. Whatever the follow-through, or not, even the fact he said this is really, really something

UNTIL IT’S DONE, Ep. 4: Sylvia Rivera

In the 1970s, queer New Yorkers had been pushed to the margins of NYC. Our trans neighbors faced immense cruelty. But in Sylvia Rivera, they found a champion.

As we combat Trump’s politics of darkness, her legacy can light the path forward.

Kinda like how South Western Ontario has a lot of Tigers fans. (And Cleveland...)

It was fun the years I lived in Chatham just after the Jays won the back-to-back series. We Jays fans were lording it over the Tigers fans.

Things that are cash grabs: Ford selling 99 year lease of public park (Ontario Place) to private company; successive governments taking taxpayer money earmarked for health and education and giving it to private companies. Things that are not cash grabs: fines for breaking the law.

“Those who are using terms like ‘nanny state’, and this is a ‘cash grab’, I hope they look at these numbers and realize this is absolutely not. This is about the safety of our most vulnerable, including little kids to older adults and everybody in between." -Waterloo mayor McCabe
