You can read tweets by Prof Stephen Griffin on 6 Oct who explains different vaccines and eligibility on NHS for most recent Pfizer vaccine.

It’s all true, at least in south Birmingham where I got my jab. I saw the NHS vaccines in the pharmacy and the pharmacist told me. And I paid £90.

The only upside is your £90 gets you a more up-to-date vaccine than the NHS one. Sad that anyone who wants a good vaccine has to pay.

#PhotoFriday this week is of Mrs Mabel Harris’ establishment at 22 Weaman Street photographed c 1930. Purveyor of many delectables including tea, coffee and cocoa. A very fine window display there. Ref - MS 4557, Box 5 #LibraryofBham @Brumpic
A female figure stood in the doorway of a shop on the left of the photograph. She is wearing a full-length dress made of fabric from the late nineteenth century. Her hand is on her right hip and the other holding the window frame of her shop window. The shop window is packed with examples of sale goods. A sign in the middle window advertises coffee, tea and cocoa. Above the shop window are hoardings either side of a window advertising cigarettes.

Amazing to see that so close to the city centre. How would I find out more about MS4557 or photos of nearby streets? I’m not sure how to access catalogues these days. Thanks in advance.

An astonishing story involving a great deal of impressive detective work to find the last known great auks. The story of their dispersal, literally in terms of organs and skins, and extinction is bleak.

Why do people keep making the dullest looking adaptations of medieval stories imaginable. Just do yourself a favour and watch Robin of Sherwood on ITV player instead.

#Viking-Age tafl board game pieces from Birka grave Bj 523. Made from glass, the 'king' piece is the most prominent, and features prominent black eyes on its head.

There’s still room to suggest they were Scandinavians who went shopping in Frisia?

Amazing. Roughly how far apart were the find spots?

This is very Sturlunga saga! Lots of elite deacons and priests knocking around.

Me too. It will have been more useful than Auðun’s bear.

This is from a beautifully succinct miracle story in the A version of Guðmundar saga. Guðmundr cures the ram that is ill by saying prayers and placing an effigy of Saint Jón on the ram.

Time for me to deploy my expertise from having worked with databases of individuals and their data in the public sector: whatever you might imagine will be happening behind the scenes of a digital ID card, the actual reality of that dataset is going to be an information governance nightmare.

An older but nonetheless very nice Norwegian find for #FindsFriday:

An ornamented (and burnt) bone fragment from Reistad in Levanger, Trøndelag. Found 1935 in a burial mound. The pelleted body implies Mammen-style (c. ~1000 CE).
