How hot are tear gas (CS) grenades?

Impossible to know – range from old studies:

572°F to 1,472°F
300°C to 800°C

Even the smoke(!) as well as the vaporised CS emitted from a burning grenade are hot enough to cause burns.

Oven mitts aren't enough to protect if pick them up.
