The number of times I've heard that what education is has to change because AI! When people say this to me now, I just say, "no." Usually they stop talking for ten seconds because no one is ever telling them no, and that's the whole problem

The basic structure of so much commentary, some in the guise of academic study, reduces to:

(1) generative AI products are detrimental to the goals of education

(2) therefore, the goals of education must change.

Without the tacit axiom that AI has authority behind it, that just doesn’t follow.

I have a Linux adventure.

I decided to run Ethernet to my machine to lighten the wireless load, only to discover that the Ethernet didn't work.

My ethernet card is a Realtek from Micro-Star MSI and according to inxi -na there is no driver installed. But whew, I can't find clear directions on how.

Minneapolis friends, it is really disturbing to me how many signs I see iin support of Becka Thompson. She is racist, thin-skinned, allergic to nuance and deep thinking, and has proved herself to be utterly ineffective and bullheaded on the Park Board. Why would she be any different on City Council?

I have done my best to avoid glurge writing but people use this crap to “edit” their narration on videos and then read it out loud and it makes me “people are eating and I can hear it” level angry

The voice is the same. It doesn’t matter what the subject is. It’s so terrible! can’t they hear it?

It’s good! I used steam to install battle net and it worked out easier than using lutris. It was a PITA looking for the right folder to drop TRP3 in, but I figured it out!
