And my great uncle by marriage who was honoured with the VC during WWI after getting both his legs blown off was fond of calling Douglas Bader a privileged bully and a twat. He was more concerned about surviving pre-welfare state than he was about raising flags.

I do wonder what our ancestors would have thought about tying Temu flags to lampposts. From what I’ve been told about my uncles who were in the merchant navy during WWII, and my other uncle who survived the Burma Railroad, they had limited interest in flags.
