Morning All !

Just been reminded by a friend that 20 years ago today we set off to do the West Highland Way... this was the last time I smiled and was dry for 5 days... it was so wet that we changed the name to 'West Highland Wade'

How it began... 7:15am 23rd October 2005 a picture of a very young looking me in full walking gear standing by the monolith that marks the start of the West Highland Way... it soon washed the smile off my face ! The trail is 96 miles long and runs North through the Highlands from Milngavie near Glasgow and ends in Fort William on the West Coast. It rained heavily for 4 out of the 5 days we took to do it, we were literally soaked to the skin despite having decent waterproof clothing. I'm glad I did it but goodness it was miserable at times ! On the climb out of Kinlochleven, the rough track winds up a hillside turned golden by Autumn.

Totnes, Devon, a place full of reminders from the past, like this stone drinking trough (not an outdoors bath! ๐Ÿ˜€). I remember seeing so many of these around farms and the countryside when I was growing up.

A glorious display of pink Rhododendron flowers lit from the left by the setting sun. It catches the upper flowers most strongly adding a warm glow to the flowers. Beyond the calm waters of the Sound divide the Island from Ardmurchan on the mainland.
