#BeeFriday Would you like to see an Icelandic bumblebee? Sure you do! Here's a pic of the only one I saw in September last year. I was beginning to question what was doing the pollinating until I saw it! What tough little creatures they are 😊🐝 #Fridaybee #invertebrate
One of the white-tailed bumblebees. The bee sits on a dandelion, side on to the camera facing right, wings folded over its back. It has a yellow collar, a white/grey band at the back of the thorax, a yellow band on its abdomen and a white tail.

A long wood plank bridge with wooden railings leading into a dense forest. One tall evergreen hangs over the pathway at an odd angle. Moss covered debris can be seen on either side of the bridge

The weekend starts here!

Some of the craziest skies I've ever seen - two years ago over Jökulsárlón glacial lagoon.

#Iceland
Mad stormy purpley/grey skies over a glacial lagoon which has some black water at the front and turquoise water beyond, and has a few turquoise icebergs floating. In the distance you can see some dark mountains and the glacier itself is just visible. There is an ara of brightness on the horizon beneath the storm clouds.

Trump is too blind to realize he's targeting the wrong folks if he wants to intimidate.
I can't wait for Letitia James to kick his ass in court. Again.

one of the gem's of Acadia, the Jesup Path, a narrow, wooden boardwalk, here littered with fallen leaves, stretches to 'infinity' through the marshy forest in the lee of Mount Dorr

Just had to take a photo of this perfect looking Amanita muscaria lurking on the dark woodland floor! 🍄 📷 🌿

Wishing everyone a good weekend ahead 🕊️

A photograph of a Fly agaric mushroom that has a bright red cap that is covered in wart-like white spots which are remnants of the white veil of tissue that at first enclosed the young mushroom, and are sometimes washed off by the rain. It has a white stem with a bulbous base. Native to the UK. It is poisonous and infamous for its psychoactive and hallucinogenic properties!

One for this weeks #AlphabetChallenge this week it's #WeekOforOpulence

A bathroom at Culzean Castle, #Ayrshire, #Scotland. May 2025

No MDF mouldings here !

#History #Photography #EastCoastKin
In a room between two bedrooms a magnificent bath tub is set into the wall. It has surrounded by beautiful solid hardwood panelling. A towel rack stands between it and a huge, ornate fireplace. A huge mirror above the fireplace shows the reflection of the large window on the opposite side of the room (it has views out over the Irish Sea... there is a 30m cliff outside so no danger of anybody looking in !)

The original chandelier and ghost story of The Phantom of the Opera (see ALT) makes Palais Garnier a strong candidate for #PalacesandGardens #MythsandLegends
#AlphabetChallenge #WeekOforOpulent
Photo is of gilded chandeliers and columns in an ornate room with vaulted, painted ceilings. Some people stand in the center, staring or taking photos.

The original novel of The Phantom of the Opera was born from a real life tragedy of a fire causing the counterweight of a chandelier to fall, injuring several and actually killing someone. There were also rumors that at least one ghost haunted the Palais. And that a faceless man lived in the lake under the Opera. The French author, Gaston Leroux, used the real life events and legends surrounding the place to inspire his novel.

For #FeatheredFriday a rather elegant robin among late #autumn leaves. It reminded me of the childhood rhyme:
"Robin in the rain,
Such a saucy fellow.
Robin in the rain
Mind your socks of yellow.
Running in the garden on your nimble feet
Digging for your dinner with your long strong beak"

A baby Barn Swallow with a buff-colored front, rust, brown, and dark blue colors around its neck and on its wings and head, and small white fluffy feathers on its legs. It's perched on a silver bridge rail with green and brown blurred foliage in the background. Seen at Stony Brook Audubon in Norfolk, Massachusetts during the summer of 2025.

A secret spot for #Scape Friday. A break from the hustle and hustle to sit by a stream with no name where it hugs a hill.

Peeling over some bushes to catch sight of a wide, shallow stream where its path carves an S through tall trees that come right down to the bank.
