I’m happy to see the awful Venezuelan regime being criticized but if “this is an award for an entire movement” (as the committee said), why give it to one specific person? And one with dubious friends and positions? Nobel Prize has been given to groups and movements before. Peace offer to Trump?

And what happens when the numbers rise again? Which they most likely will since there is very little evidence of causation between EU policies and lower numbers. And when there is, the impact is very low. Stop the fixation on numbers and talk about the demonstrable realities of (forced) migration.

Die Grenzpolitik eignet sich nicht zur Lösung struktureller, mit Integrationsforderungen verbundenen Problemlagen im Bereich Bildung, Wohnen, Gesundheit. Rechtspopulistische Parteien sind am Erstarken, obwohl die Zahl der ankommenden Flüchtlinge in Deutschland und Österreich auf Rekordtief ist.

Es ist halt ein riesen Problem, dass er als Experte ernst genommen wird, obwohl er kein Forscher ist und daher auch entsprechende Ergebnisse nicht produziert oder versteht. Meinungsunternehmer mit so großem Einfluß auf Medien und Politik sind ein großes demokratietheoretisches Problem.

Hilfreiche Einordnung zu den Wahlen in Tschechien in Bezug auf Migrationspolitik. Auch wenn keine direkten Veränderungen auf EU-Ebene zu erwarten sind, wird die Polarisierung verstärkt. Gesellschaftlich sind die negativen Nebeneffekte dieser affektiven Polarisierung enorm.
