I think it’s because people initially complained that the laugh track was too loud, so the producers wanted to make it clear the laughter was a real human audience, not dubbed on from stock.

People are lazy and stupid. They will keep using this shit until it kills them. That’s why it’s imperative we stop AI’s rise to ubiquity before it’s too late, if it isn’t already. It isn’t to save us from self-aware computers; it’s to save us from our thick, gullible, bone idle asshole selves.
