Sharing debris. Swamped by cats. Labelled "Antichrist" by evangelicals as a child. Didn't grow out of it. Cinema, society, terminal identity, anthropophagy. Pro-Jesus Franco & Andy Milligan account. Letterboxd: https://boxd.it/1cwB

Revisiting some iconic Rib Hillis with Psycho Storm Chaser. One day he will get the October love he deserves.
This film is worth your attention. Camp and silly and great slasher!

Ordinary Loss by @health.band is my hyperfocus favourite at the moment, which is fortunate because it flows beautifully into my Attack on Titan & Chainsaw Man hyperfocus songs 💜

Tis the season for #letterboxdFriday chills!

#31daysofHalloween enters the annual "There will always be more slashers" stage. They work well in clumps & the more regional the better!
Iced is the top pick if you're an Andy Milligan fan - rides a similar manic melodrama energy with a mean streak.

Hey @alexsteed.bsky.social, relistening to the Children of the Corn ep & y'all dissing the rest of the series but have you considered the Screaming Mad George fueled COTC3: URBAN HARVEST?
Been awhile since I saw it but it feels like ripe @youaregood.bsky.social territory. Chicago horror adoptions!

Berserker was fun enough (especially with extended but chewy cameos from John Goff & George 'Buck' Flowers: Cinemas Greatest Character Actor couple). Children of the Corn was a wonky mishmash of 70s fear & 80s gung-ho-isms. Am I know going to disappear into the series...probably just the 1st 3.

Had a wild ride through American regional 80s horror last night. Utah double of Berserker & Iced then over to Nebraska for OG Children of the Corn. Iced was definitely my favourite due to the Andy Milliganesque mania of the soapie/horror melodrama.

I have read a lot of Junji Ito since the 1st of this month. No long dreams yet.

The tag line from the Calvaire trailer lives rent free in my head.

No idea, I'm reposting as a supporter of communities I have some connections to & not as a person who engages with sports or has a ln aerial plugged into his TV.

But probably!

Psst do one for Out of the Blue

Sports should not be owned by corporations. They exist for communities and they should be organised and protected by communities.

Of course Preston's team has been allowed to die. Northside area, high multicultural diversity, traditionally blue collar.

Sad news about the Preston Football Club in Melbourne. A proud 143 year history in the VFA/VFL but no more. The AFL stripped them of their licence and won’t grant them $270k to clear their debts. But the AFL had no problem paying Snoop Dogg several million for 10-15 minutes work. Ridiculous.

Horror fans: I have a question I don't know how to put succinctly.

You know how Picnic at Hanging Rock evokes something unique about the Australian landscape and psyche, touching on Aboriginal sacred spaces and colonialism?

Can you think of any horror movies that do that for the US landscape?

I'm all for blasting the fascists into space, & yeah - they probably won't survive, but we do need to remember that ejecting all the ruinous lunatics is how we got America in the 1st place. Deal with your shit, don't just kick it down the street/continent/cosmos.

I'm guessing the OP isn't classifying the patriarchal family as 1 of these 'powerful institutions', because there are so many of those. Most cannibal films are either about that or capitalism, & even more often about both.
dissolvedpet.bsky.social
A couple of associated thoughts: A horror of systems generally falls to sci-fi or arthouse; Our dominant ideologies scapegoat the individual or Other & refuse a reality of structural violence inherent to institutions, hence 'Chick tracts'; Is institutional horror more prevalent in 'hippie horror'?

Bruce Greenwood in Servants of Twilight is going beyond the full MacGyver with his look, channeling a bit of Dennis Quaid and Patrick Swayze as well!

My body isnt being assistive to regular function so taking time-out with Dean Koontz's Servants of Twilight!
Bruce Greenwood, Belinda Bauer, Grace Zabriskie! Christians target a child because he's allegedly the Antichrist. Watch it before you read about it on the news next month!

Pretty sure it's Friends and Love Actually that are the 'cultural hole' and not the absence of those things.

Meanwhile the Department of War officially downgrades focus on cybersecurity because it distracts from 'The Mission' of manscaping.

Yeah, I'm the same. I'm on the extreme end of always looking for something new & unfamiliar but a lot of people just love the old grooves to be worn deeper. That's their combo: comfort/familiarity + discomfort/horror. I'm a discomfort + discomfort 😂

Get ready for the Christian Nationalists going after Halloween because a) Pagan, & b) ICE is scared of costumes that aren't GI Joe.
