I think there’s a big difference between 15yos in a care home providing personal care and a 13yo learning all the ways the body tries to die.

What worries me is that there aren’t many children who could pass these exams this young without significant coaching, and that makes me wonder whether

That’s bananas. How on earth is a child supposed to deal with the emotional side of medicine? It’s not a zero sum game. People die. It’s very emotionally tough.

I would suspect that a child with the intellectual ability to pass exams to get in to medical school has not gained the emotional maturity

To be fair, I had to get my dad to call in sick for me when I was an f1 (intern). I was unwell but had entirely lost my hearing and so couldn’t actually make the phone call myself! I felt like an utter prune.

3. If you see content that disturbs you, immediately (or as fast as possible) go and play 20-30 minutes of Tetris (or any other fast-paced game with your eyes sweeping over the visual field that has caused visual artifacts to linger when you close your eyes for you in the past).
