I don’t want to hear anything else about what we should or shouldn’t be putting in our bodies (Tylenol, artificial sweeteners, sugar, or fat) until something is done about the BULLETS being put into bodies

It's all fun and games until a cop handles a Tylenol gelcap with no gloves and within seconds their socks are bothering them.

the most important thing to remember when you see eugenicists who don’t believe that autistic people should exist rambling about “the autism epidemic” is not that they’re wrong about the “cause” (although they are absolutely wrong about it); it’s that they are eugenicists

calling autism a “tragedy” and saying that there should be fewer autistic people are eugenicist talking points. Everyone who opposes such views also needs to recognize the ways in which everyday ableism left the door wide open for a person like RFK Jr.

I’m autistic. Not because of Tylenol.
Not because of vaccines.
Not because of some headline.
I’m autistic because that’s how
my brain works. Stop treating us
like a problem. Start listening to us.

3/3) WW2 Nazis targeted those they felt to be less than normal. Trump & co don’t care about autistic people who can serve their needs (e.g. Musk). They want rid of those who need support from others & society - the vulnerable & dependent. This is big and terrifying and we can’t stay quiet about it.

2/3) There’s no link between parental actions and a child being autistic. Parents of children with additional needs fight for equity for our children in a world that’s not set up for it. We feel guilt for not fighting hard enough, when there’s no more fight in us. Please don’t make it worse for us.

A couple of things to get off my chest……

1) there’s no evidence of a link between paracetamol (the safest painkiller for pregnant parents and babies to take) and autism.

Medical ethicist Arthur Kaplan, quoted in the NYT:

“The announcement on autism was the saddest display of a lack of evidence, rumors, recyling old myths, lousy advice, outright lies & dangerous advice I have ever witnessed by anyone in authority in the world claiming to know anything about science”

This MAGA/MAHA/Trump/RFK Jr/Dr Oz/Dr Bhattacharya press conference right now is quite possibly the worst press conference—from the viewpoints of medicine, public health, & medical ethics—that I’ve ever seen. These men are so shameless & deeply irresponsible. Wherever happened to science & evidence?

"People who received a different diagnosis or no diagnosis in prior generations now have an autism diagnosis, said Ari Ne’eman, an assistant professor of health policy and management at Harvard.

"That’s not an epidemic—it’s better understanding of a disability that’s likely always existed."

I took Tylenol as needed throughout my pregnancy. I am a doctor. I order Tylenol for pregnant women regularly. Tylenol is safe in pregnancy. RFK Jr is ignoring a huge recent well-done study because he doesn't like the answer it gives. There is no causality between Tylenol and autism.

You have no idea how much I despite these anti-science dipshits for making pregnant women terrified of taking (safe, mild, proven) pain relief.

Things today's White House autism announcement did not do:

-Discuss strategies to increase supports and services for autistic people/families
-Highlight why autistic people and families deserve respect, not pity or fear
-Endorse one speck of autism research that is not dangerous pseudoscience

ACOG reaffirms that acetaminophen is safe for managing pain and fever during pregnancy. No reputable studies support suggestions like those in HHS’s recent announcement linking acetaminophen use in pregnancy to autism; in fact, high-quality studies show no such risk. https://bit.ly/47Wxc59
