they want to launch the first of 4k solar reflectors allegedly 4x brighter than the full moon to see if it works so they can 'deliver light on demand after sunset and before sunrise to paying customers'; just thinking thru the engineering of only sending the light to 'paying customers' in a 5km area
A US tech bro corp in the US has decided the night sky should go away. They've made that decision for everyone on Earth.

Naturally they've named the first searing orbital array (many times brighter than the moon) after Eärendil, the light bearer, from Tolkien's work

Company's plan to launch 4,000 space mirrors alarms scientists
Reflect Orbital says their light-on-demand idea has generated significant interest from commercial and government customers.

this is a promising start 😌

they should promise to let one lucky voter blow it up with a looney tunes dynamite plunger
I think Democrats should run on a promise to demolish Trump's Epstein Memorial Ballroom should they win in 2028, tbh

This goes beyond hiding whether someone is filming. If the light is visible and visibly not lit, that is sending the clear signal that filming is NOT happening. So the mod lets you send the lying signal that you are not recording when you actually are
New: a $60 mod to Meta's Ray-Ban glasses disables the privacy LED light. This is supposed to light when people are filming with the glasses. We bought the mod, verified it works. Now you can never be sure whether someone wearing Meta Ray-Bans is filming you or not

A $60 Mod to Meta’s Ray-Bans Disables Its Privacy-Protecting Recording Light
Meta’s Ray-Ban glasses usually include an LED that lights up when the user is recording other people. One hobbyist is charging a small fee to disable that light, and has a growing list of customers ar...

You mean they lied?

How utterly shocking.

It’s not his house. He’s destroying a structure that is recognizable the world over … and acting as though he never intends to leave.

Not sure having your brand associated with destroying the White House is the best look

There are laws about how to interdict suspected criminals on the high seas.

There are laws about how to renovate federal buildings.

There are laws about how not to monetize the presidency.

There are laws. We should enforce them. And not normalize the flagrant violation of them in the newspapers.

The same people who lost their minds over renovations to Cracker Barrel are totally fine with the White House getting bulldozed
fuck this fuckin guy
Fetterman describes Trump trying to steal $230 million from taxpayers as "small ball, and I think we have much bigger problems than worrying about those things."

No, you see, this makes total sense. It's like, if a tree falls on my garage and completely destroys it, I don't get in trouble for lacking a permit to have demolished the garage. Because "demolition" is something that just happens, an uncaused cause.

Not to be cringe, but I'm surprised I am emotional seeing the East Wing demolition. My first job in DC was interning and going to meetings there regularly. I learned everything about it while giving guided tours. The beauty of the East Wing is that everyone can go there. It's America's house.

You can't help but wonder how much bigger the massive No Kings protests would have been if people had seem him tearing down the White House beforehand.

ICE stepped up activities in NYC today and New Yorkers were not having it.

NEW: After The Washington Post reported Monday on the demolition of the "East Wing facade," a new picture obtained by Law Dork that was taken on Tuesday shows that a substantial portion of the entirety of the East Wing has been demolished.

I'm tired. We're all tired. This isn't hard to understand. You can't inflate prices of basic necessities like food and housing to ridiculous highs while keeping wages at poverty levels, then act surprised when luxury goods/services and large purchases become unattainable or payments unaffordable.

I knew this—I’m a Truman fan, have been to his presidential library even—but some might find this interesting

Fascism is built by overwhelming our ability to fully see its scope.
The absolute insanity of fielding reports/blurring videos of kidnappings and sightings from an explosion of Border Patrol agents in your own neighborhood in Chicago while also getting news of an ICE agent shooting another fed in LA and then logging on to see them IDing delivery workers in NYC
