These are from the minutes of a meeting of the BBC's Editorial Guidelines Committee in March.

Choices were clearly made.
Whether it's TV, post, or online Ofcom fail at every. single. thing. they're asked by the public to do. Ofcom is not fit for purpose, sack them all.

"By paying such disproportionate attention to Nigel Farage's latest outfit, Reform UK, the BBC is compromising its reputation. To many licence fee payers, the broadcaster gives the impression that it hangs on every word uttered by Farage..."

“Nooooo! You can’t be some dorky conventional presenting lady who looks like a freakishly tall nerdy librarian or academic! You have to shatter the binary, overthrow capitalism, and attack and dethrone God!”

I have no idea how to do that and it sounds like too much pressure and a lot of work.
As a trans woman, I’m voting expressly against Mothin. He says to judge him on his actions and not pledges, but his actions are merely just virtue signals of “trans people are oppressed” — no views around what action is needed. At least Adrian is honest that he’s a transphobe.
One can show solidarity and be pro-liberation while still being opposed to religion, just as you can show solidarity with the global south while still opposing the homophobia and sexism common in those countries.
Ofcom is not fit for purpose.

Love for all the important work you do GLP.
The petition makes no reference to the ID restrictions, even if that’s what caused a spike of signatures. The petition talks about a real problem which is sites will rather shut down or block the UK than comply, because complying is difficult and the consequences are onerous.

Mr Khan: show your true flag: declare London a Sanctuary city and ban the Gender Critical Ideology Movement in the City as the fascist body that it is. Distance yourself from a Government hell-bent on remaining in the culture wars for the foreseeable future, and cosying-up to hate on a daily basis.

The BBC have now successfully buried it to page 2 with a ton of news articles, burying it. Very convinced this article was just plausible deniability so they can say they covered it.
have there been any developments? has he came out of his cave yet? im honestly not sure what there really is to do (aside from allowing civil or criminal processes to follow their path, but the palace has nothing to with that) other than strip his titles and keep him out of the public eye

Going to use this as an opportunity to plug this petition. The so-called OSA is just death to privacy and a boost for big tech (small tech can’t comply with the demands of Ofcom, who aren’t fit for purpose)

Uhhh… all the major UK parties (Lab, Con, LD, Grn) aside from Reform are unincorporated associations at the top-level, with (usually) CLGs held in trust on behalf of the association

Which trans people did she speak to who welcomed the ruling?

🚨 EXCLUSIVE | Green leader candidate Ellie Chowns PRAISED Supreme Court ruling that gutted trans rights.

Chowns welcomed the ruling, saying its critics "do not speak for all trans people". She called for "open conversation" about "contested issue" of trans rights.

- Teaches children the laws about "biological sex"
- Removes all references to the word transgender

People want to blame a single man for this but the reality is that Epstein is the result of a system that normalizes and tolerates rampant sexual abuse of people by wealthy and powerful men. Look no future than Diddy to see how none of these people are ever fully held accountable.
Ofcom and the Online Safety Act aren’t fit for purpose. The government needs to reorient itself and pass laws that actually protect people rather than stamp out independent businesses and civil liberties.
You wouldn’t /have/ to complain as a “man” … the police would *choose* to treat you as one.

The judgement applied only to the Equality Act, not to all law. It’s why the BTP’s policy change was unusual. The TERF narrative of “clarity” is too widely believed.
I think Kenan Malik is right, but Katharine Birbalsingh (‘Britain’s strictest headteacher’, who would make Miss Trunchbull blush) immersing herself in the conservative grift and then being surprised by it feels almost like a leopards eating faces moment.

🇫🇷 President Macron: "Many people said that Brexit would help better fight illegal immigration."

❌ “However, since Brexit the UK no longer has any migration agreement with EU. This is a pull factor, exactly the inverse effect of what Brexit promised.”
Macron is right – Brexit is to blame for Britain’s immigration crisis
The French president did not hold back on how Brexit had created the small boats crisis - the reverse of the promises made by Farage and other Brexiteers, notes David Maddox
