“It’s not my job to feed someone else’s kids.”

It kind of is. That’s what you do when you’re part of a social species, dude.
I’m disappointed that I couldn’t get a good vegetable garden going this summer. I suspect I might have had better luck had I not broken my arm in May. Big plans for next spring, though.
I turned two of the tomatoes from our yard into enchilada sauce. Filling: roasted poblanos and shredded cheese. Next year I want to grow the poblanos too.
One of the (only) things I miss about the US is Tex-Mex food. I want a restaurant that serves giant oval plates straight out of the blast furnace and laden with refritos on one side, red rice on the other, and a big enchilada or burrito or chimichanga in the middle, covered in melted cheese.
Happy birthday, my friend! 🎉🥳🎈

Even if you don't want to get all abstract about it and say humans have value just for their humanity, it is deeply true that human beings serve a vast variety of very practical "purposes," and some of those are invisible to everyone but those closest to them.

No government can tell who "matters."

I've built a socioeconomic system that depends on everyone to do useful work and act ethically except the people at the top, who get unimaginable rewards for being antisocial frauds and criminals. And I think it will stand the test of time

The depth of the shame of a country this wealthy and abundant allowing its people to go hungry is impossible to measure. The fact that a handful of people could fix this by paying their fair share of taxes while still remaining obscenely wealthy makes it even worse.

Your ability to eat should not depend on your productivity

Your ability to get healthcare should not depend on your productivity

Your ability to get housing should not depend on your productivity

Saying “be more productive!” To those who are struggling devalues human life.

It aids fascism.

Yeah if I were watching the Jays closely this series would probably kill me. Calling it now: it’s going down to the bitter end of the seventh game.

What we're witnessing with #Melissa is ultra rare in the history of known hurricanes in the Atlantic. This level of sustained intensity and feasting on every joule of ocean heat content without any real disruption is incredible.

Not hyperbole: Jamaica is facing a generational catastrophic event.
Holding Jamaica in my heart tonight.
You’re welcome! I’m excited to see your documentary.
By the way, warmest congratulations on the new medal, and I’m so sorry you have to fight to compete for more. You’re amazing.
Oh we are super anti-AI in our house too, for all the reasons you mentioned. Burn up the environment so we can outsource creativity and critical thought to machines that hallucinate and lie? No, thank you.
I’m terrified but also excited. This will be my fourth career. !
Talked to a fellow MSW and she gave me some fabulous leads on places that might take me on as I move into private practice as a therapist. I want to work with people who have late diagnoses of autism or ADHD.
Went to a board meeting tonight and saw folks in person for the first time in yonks. Such incredible people. I am one big raw nerve right now and they are all so kind.
Yeah, I've been seeing a very good physiotherapist in Kingston. She's been thrilled by how well I'm doing.
Just time, I think. Not much else to be done unless it gets worse.
