Digging back into some books I've had for a long time and forgotten about! 💙📚🇮🇸
Navy cover with snowflakes of the Sara Winokur book 'Double Blind, the Icelandic Manuscript Murders', showing line drawing mountains at the bottom, and a gene spiral becoming a tree above (or is it arterioles from an artery?)

Owls do cry by New Zealand writer Janet Frame. Glorious writing. Mixing poetry and prose.

As part of celebrating Bookshop Day, Bert’s is donating £100 worth of books to 12 schools across Swindon.

Literacy levels in Swindon have fallen behind the national average, so we’re making a commitment to do this every year – but it will take us seven years to make sure every school benefits.

One flew over the cuckoo's nest. Absolute perfection. Read as a teen. Must re-read! Rare case where film as good as book.

I went to see The Word For World Is Map and I would just like to observe that Ursula K. LeGuin was a gift to humanity in so many ways.
A print of Ursula's map of the Labyrinth of The Tombs of Atuan.

After five years of reading a lot of new releases/ARCs, esp for revies, blurbs etc, next year I'm going to shake up my reading and focus on books from further back. Need to snap my reading out of the rhythm of the publishing world and deepen my appreciation of significant writers I've overlooked.

My weekend. Talking womens health and pku in Cardiff. 12 Yr old with pku enjoying activities and new dietary foods! #nspku
Daughter trying low protein granola, yoghurt with fruit. Dr Gisela Wilcox taking about new pku guidelines. Conference programme. I'm speaking about a labour of love. Low protein lunch menu.

Dawn delights, the ANZAC Bridge with the Sydney fish market sparkling under a purple sky. The new fish market construction is off to the right and is expected to open in time for Christmas prawn purchases.

Both primary and secondary care trying to sort whose responsibility. And our services just not working well for citizens. Hope your paper catches good attention!

Well done Rebecca. Was having a related conversation today. One of the age old debates is if someone d/c from hospital who does eg follow up bloods. I can totally understand why GP colleagues would feel hacked off. But when it's a LTC this changes things. Our healthcare systems haven't adapted.

Gosh I don't. Guess depends how/why went to hospital. Then educated guess on order of calling the hospitals.

The UK’s independent scientific bodies are highly vulnerable to politicisation - over the past 5 months I've been working with @martinmckee.bsky.social to map out their vulnerabilities and it's not good news.

Today our report is published!
