Scary to think of how bad things would have to get before USians are compelled to general strike.

Silencing dissent is now second nature to this administration. We have fully abandoned the premise of allowing public argument and debate and are instead entrenched in rote fascism. The thought police are entirely empowered, and they treat us no longer as citizens of a republic,
but as sheep.

But shall this crazed old man be tamely suffered to drag a whole ship’s company down to doom with him?
I used to work for a firm that repped the Trump Org. I have long since been fascinated and appalled by how mostly white men - established in their own right - so easily capitulate to one man’s whims. The lack of concern for country for the gain of… what? Profit? How profitable is a ruined country?
“.. staffers were taken aback the next morning, when Thompson suggested during the daily network editorial call that it should ease up on covering Trump’s East Wing demolition ..”

I think you just completely summed up all of our individual, daily anger and astonishment and pain.

Destined to Collapse.

This is the most obscenely wealthy, grotesquely cruel, offensively under qualified and incompetent, outrageously & blatantly corrupt, callously indifferent, brazenly self-serving, shamelessly deceitful administration in our country’s history. A hollow gold-plated autocracy destined to collapse.

One food bank in Virginia saw a 65% increase in visitors since last year, more than at the height of the pandemic.

“We thought it would come back down and it hasn’t,” the food bank’s chief philanthropy officer said. “It keeps growing.”

ProPublica obtained records from the Department of Agriculture that detail the millions of pounds of food, down to the number of eggs, that never reached food banks because of the administration’s cut...

Besides racial slurs against black people and having a Hitler streak, he says Indians and Chinese are not trustworthy. He is still in the White House even though his Nomination was withdrawn. The Trump regime a gift that keeps giving, defecating over the country and destroying the people’s house

support whomever you’d like, but what is frustratingly dishonest about this take is that actual issue — the thing critics have identified as the problem — isn’t the decision of the 21-year old to get the tattoo, but of the judgment of the 40-year old who still has it.
I think political writers actually should have an opinion about a guy in his 40s having a Nazi tattoo. The decision to keep it on their body may tell us more than their website.
Please stop with the porn ‘staches.
Does their ignorance make them racist, or does their racism make them ignorant?

Will Lewis gets up every day asking: How can I get more suburban DC readers to cancel their subscriptions? It's called grindset and you wouldn't understand.
In a nearly illiterate editorial, WaPo defends Trump's ballroom project, without revealing the fact that the paper's owner, Jeff Bezos, is a principal funder of the project. Shameful conduct all around. bsky.app/profile/bgru...
Here’s a free link to a house editorial that illustrates the collapse of the new Washpost Opinion page.

It’s important to read it, because it is so poorly written and reasoned, and it shows how quickly an editorial institution can fall completely apart under spineless leadership.

Understand this: most Black people see the Graham Platner controversy through a completely different lens than most white people— our lived experience. So stop telling us it’s no big deal. It’s no big deal to YOU.

It's hard to overstate how fully engaged Chicago and the surrounding suburbs are in this ICE madness. There are neighborhood watch alerts, spontaneous crowds gathering outside schools at pick up & drop off plus madly blowing whistles and honking car horns, this city is fighting back and hard.
Also - so what if someone bought steak with SNAP? Lower income people can’t have nice things? They’re supposed to buy and eat gruel?
This Platner situation illustrates how white men who aren’t right leaning (yet) are desperate for a white male hero.

Just learning that the man who hid his Nazi tattoo for years is a Hotchkiss alum and you will not convince me that he is either working class or ignorant of what he gets permanently etched on his body
His grandfather had a whole suite of Knoll office furniture named the Warren Platner Group after him.

His dad was an attorney who moved to Maine. His mom was a restaurant owner.

Graham attended prep school at The Hotchkiss School in Connecticut. 2025 tuition: 77k

He's nowhere near working class.
And their supporters. Don’t let them off the hook.
