If you appreciate this work, I am asking for a small fraction of what Tucker Carlson gave Facebook: www.theredoubt.net#/portal/signup

I know a lot of folks are asking for your $8, but I want it more.

A funny detail is that Tucker is doing this “maybe Bush did 9/11” thing for a company he cofounded with a former aide to Dick Cheney.
An analysis of the spending shows that Meta has accepted ~$700,000 to promote Tucker Carlson's new /11 truth series, which states that the collapse of WTC-7 was a "controlled demolition." www.theredoubt.net/meta-has-bee...

Tucker Carlson previously accused Meta of censoring his voice. But since 2024, he has given the company millions of dollars to promote far-right conspiracy theories on chemtrails, vaccines and 9/11.

I wish I didn’t have to share this. But the BBC has decided to censor my first Reith Lecture.

They deleted the line in which I describe Donald Trump as “the most openly corrupt president in American history.” /1

In 2000, George W. Bush ran against "nation building." Rarely do politicians campaign on a platform of "I'll start wars" (though, in 2024, Trump and Vance did actually run on bombing Mexico).

This morning for @theredoubt.net, I’ll be speaking with an expert on democratic backsliding in Eastern Europe, and what has and hasn’t worked for center-left parties when it comes to pushing back on the far right.

Questions you’d like to ask? Just let me know.

ICYMI, on fascism, subversion and the MAGA-groyper adoption of an historically evil aesthetic.
When I first saw these anti-fascist, satirical posters in Vienna, my first thought wasn't "Nazi Germany" but, unfortunately, "Trump's America."

In the USA, a lot of the people linking MAGA to the 1930s now work for the government. www.theredoubt.net/subverting-a...
Subverting — and celebrating — the fascist aesthetic
In Austria, activists co-opted fascist imagery to promote a message of inclusion. Would that work in America?

I fully agree, the word "fascism" is losing its dark odor rapidly. Sooner or later some of the authoritarian parties in Europe will openly endorse it. The debates from the interwar period are back: Fascists are rising and portraying themselves as alternatives to rotten and ineffective democracies.

Trump is filling his government with Nazis, consolidating authoritarian power, and eroding democracy at every chance.

And yet these 86 House Democrats voted for a right-wing messaging amendment to say that the real authoritarians are the socialists.

Pathetic.

So much of the long-term damage was baked in back in November 2024. You only get one “do over”; you can’t elect the guy twice and expect allies to believe “no really that’s not who we are.”

Europe desperately hoped that the dust had settled after the last time Trump and Witkoff parroted Putin's talking points and voiced understanding for his demands. Turns out their pro-Russian stance never disappeared.
They see Europe as an enemy at worst and a vasall at best. NATO is dead.
Europe totally caught off-guard by US-Russia peace plan: contents, seriousness and speed White House is pushing for agreement
- crisis talks at G20 among European leaders being planned
- still no clarity about Trump's position on it
- “It basically means capitulation [to Moscow].”
