Getting older can take the edge off this, or amplify it, too. Depends on how you can keep things in perspective. Not craving a perfection that never really existed in yourself and others is hard, but also instinctive, if you can deal with age.

And that's not even getting into the lost time. The resentment can manifest as negative stereotyping that comes as the flipside to the positive stereotyping of the gender/sex you "are." That can be incredibly toxic.

Like... People don't assume I'm a per se woman (except when I'm dressed as a schlubby Fargo character, somehow.) People in the know pick up on it, but that's about it. It took a lot of work to think of my old self as someone who kept us alive, not someone who abused me by occupying my body.

I think that a lot of this, on a sort of macro, cultural-enforcement level, is how much it fucking sucks trying to rebuild oneself after being forced into adulthood without trans care. It turns the body horror and amplified body issues outward into a sex-pessimism.

this is old but no joke one of the reasons why i have said i am terrible for some degree of pre-transes is that i just cant truck with the "but what if im not pretty" anxiety because like. well what if. what if its fine to be kind of a weird looking woman who sucks. what if thats worth Being Happy.

"boys are ugly but girls are perfect" is actually more misogynist than anything else cuz....why am I allowed to be ugly? Why can't my trans girlfriends be ugly slobs? Why can't a black girl show up with unkempt hair in a messy bun? Why is "ugliness" the realm of men?

The Senate has just passed the military NDAA containing 2 anti-trans provisions: a surgery ban using federal funds (dependents too), and a sports ban on military academy spaces.

This will be the STARTING point for negotiations with the House, which has even worse provisions.

Only 20 Dems opposed.
