Recently I brought Calum Miller MP to the site of Ardley station. A developer-funded reprovided station here is essential to avoiding gridlock should Heyford Park New Town, Puy du Fou and OxSFRI go ahead.

Sign the petition at: www.oxonld.uk/ardley-station

Really glad to see @cllrchrisbrant.bsky.social leading the way in resisting the cynical attempt at asset-stripping a community. The details of this case are particularly appalling and demonstrate why planning protection for pubs must be strengthened.

Villagers in Great Bourton, north of Banbury, are campaigning for their local pub not to be turned into a house on appeal. Local councillor Chris Brant said “The pub was closed, run down and never offered back to the community. To claim it is unviable is a result of neglect, not inevitability.”

I really don't know what to do about a situation where a plurality of the group that (rightly!) takes up most government spending thinks that it is unrepresented in politics.

In case you had not clocked that yet: the congestion charge is a pro bus measure. 🚌💚
oxfordclarion.bsky.social
Oxford Bus Co has announced more frequent bus services from November to coincide with the congestion charge coming into effect. The improvements mean Blackbird Leys and Cowley will have services to the city centre every 10 minutes, while Iffley Road gets a new night bus.

BREAKING: Shabana Mahmoud has clarified that British people are allowed to protest as long as they don't protest too often, their protests aren't seen by anyone, and they are completely ineffective. Anything else is un-British and basically terrorism x

It appears you can now be arrested for expressing disagreement with government policy. No wonder Labour is losing voters to the Lib Dems and Greens.

She was arrested for holding a sign reading:

“I do not support the proscription of Palestine Action”

How that would warrant arrest is very unclear. I wonder if the police here even understand the boundaries of the bizarre law they’ve been forced to enforce.

Appalled by this attack on a place of worship. Members of the Muslim community must be free to worship and live without the fear of Islamophobic violence and intimidation. I stand shoulder to shoulder in solidarity with British Muslims and against this hate. www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

(The New Towns programme should deliver more affordable housing - Dorchester’s proposed 30% is nowhere near enough - and should give a structure to manage the environmental impacts. But it must have local input)

A busy week. Comments submitted on two major planning applications; a visit to the consultation for OxSRFI at Ardley; and now a letter to Housing Minister Steve Reed.

Parish councils doing a great job in engaging residents on this potentially bewildering set of proposals.
