Meanwhile, in the far-left progressive bastion of ... entire State of Utah:

"The plan shows 3,100 miles of paths. The network would come within a mile of 95% of Utahns, connect to 33 school campuses, 31 state/national parks, and 74 high-capacity transit stations."

Utah rolls forward on statewide freeway system for bikes. Here’s where the trails would go.
Utah plans to build a statewide network of paved trails that will act like an interstate system for bikes.

But he finds the money and time to do the ugliest possible bathroom renovation and then post photos of it the day before his forced starvation of children begins.
I would have gone from 1 car to 0 years ago if there was a viable car share option.
They can come up with a name for a terrorist organization that doesn’t exist, but not for one that supposedly does exist? Or maybe they just prefer mass murder without any justification.
The Caltrans car-focused traffic signals at ECB and the 15 didn’t help either nor the supposed transit signal priority for the 215.
Don’t be the guy that runs up to a departing late 215, then takes 2 minutes to pay. If not for running down the walkway and stairs to the ECB centerline stop and the driver of a few minute late 235 noticing me, I would have had to wait 30 min for the next bus and been late for work.
If you you walk, bike, or take transit, you also know that people driving cars could kill you at any time. It’s the cars.
i think if you ride public transit enough you learn that most weird behavior is not dangerous, and conversely i think driving a car teaches you that everyone is trying to kill you at all times
Building a palace ballroom while starving the poorest people is how you get to guillotines.
The anger I feel every time I have to cross an onramp to get to a transit stop and have to dodge yet another entitled person driving a car running a red light to make the turn onto the onramp.
It seems bad that only $668 million of California's $31 billion transportation budget is for public transit capital projects next year.

HSR gets another $798 million.

$1.45 billion out of $31 billion. It's a hidden form of climate arson.
The 2025-26 California Spending Plan: Transportation
In this post, we summarize some of the most notable components of transportation program budgets in the 2025-26 spending plan.

It’s now three evenings in a row where a person driving a vehicle from westbound ECB to the onramp to the northbound 15 has run the red right turn arrow while I was trying to cross that onramp. San Diego drivers routinely ignore red arrows and curbs. #VisionZero

Bikes ≠ automobiles

❌Weigh 2-3 tons
❌Encased in a steel box
❌Kill thousands of people every year

Bikes shouldn’t be treated as vehicles and shouldn’t be required to follow the same laws.

Idaho stops are a perfect example. The increase safety when preformed correctly and make cycling safer!
A pedestrian crossing that wouldn’t be needed except for a highway that shouldn’t even exist. The only cost should be for the removal of that section of highway.
Caltrans' messaging of its bike/ped work continues to border on mendacious.

This *Caltrans* press release says that they are spending $97M on a pedestrian overcrossing in SF.

That would be an insane price!

But in reality, the $97M is for a ped over-xing *and* 7.5 miles of I-280 pavement rehab!
"...where they found a car had plowed into a group of four people. The car, an orange Dodge Charger, ended up on the sidewalk and smashed into a tree."

If scooters and e-bikes can have their speeds limited for reasons of safety, why not limit the speeds of far more lethal cars on city streets?
Hit-and-run crash in Santa Monica kills 2 pedestrians
Santa Monica police are looking for the driver who allegedly crashed into a group of people on a sidewalk Friday night, killing two and injuring two more.

The person driving the westbound murder weapon on University presumably didn't have to slow down much to head north on 54th thanks to the wide slip lane. If San Diego was really serious about trying to achieve #VisionZero, why hasn't every slip lane on city streets been removed over the past decade?
"Public records obtained by CBS 8 show more than 430 traffic-related deaths since Vision Zero began in 2015."

The limited measures the city has taken in the past ten years are far less than what's needed to make any meaningful reduction in the fatal collisions on city streets.
City launches data-driven plan for safer intersections in San Diego
San Diego identifies seven high-crash locations for immediate safety upgrades, including new signals and crosswalks, after Vision Zero falls short of goals.

While I'm waiting to cross 10th Ave at B Street, drivers of three cars run the light after it turn reds. A fourth driver tried to right-hook a bus by making a right turn after red without stopping, but had to stop because of the cars on B Street proceeding on a green. #VisionZero #SanDiego
Why have children only to have them tear-gassed by this vile regime?
University Avenue between 54th and 58th is really hostile for people walking. The posted speed limit is 40 mph, but it's designed for highway speeds. And there are no marked, much less signaled, crossings between 54th and 58th. #VisionZero is a farce in #SanDiego.

This was the year that San Diego had targeted to achieve Vision Zero. Blindly prioritizing fast movement of cars on city streets will ensure that never happens. That deadly collision didn't have to happen.
"To qualify for an all-way stop, a major road like Jackson Drive is required to score at least 25 points. The intersection scored 10 points. The intersection was also evaluated for a crosswalk in November 2024, Santacroce said, and it did not meet the required criteria." #VisionZero
A Jackson Drive resident sought stop signs and crosswalks to no avail. Then a boy died.
The city will install an all-way stop at Lake Badin Avenue and Jackson Drive.

The allowance for the Gold Hill housing was the planned, but unfunded, Rapid Route 637. It would follow the current routing of Route 2 through North Park and South Park, then continue southward from C St. and 28th to Naval Base San Diego.
