1. To opinions! Solar is the cheapest source of bulk electricity in many countries, and the quickest to deploy, and now you couldn't stop it being built if you wanted to. The limits to PV build in most places are grid access, permitting, and sometimes installation labour.

Established in 1871 and spanning 220 km across 13 lines, Turin boasts one of the oldest and longest tram networks in Italy. Having backdropped more than a century of change, from the grandeur of the Savoy monarchy to the rise and fall of the Fiat empire, today it’s experiencing a quiet renaissance.🧵

I have also made Courgette Cake and a glorious Beetroot Chocolate Cake. But Tomato Cake is a new one, are they replacing the sugar in a sort of fruit & nut cake?
An excellent book which became a pretty good film

An automation side effect - concentrating wear from braking and acceleration in a narrower range of track.
The main cause of the noise is something that will, sooner or later, hit every part of the network: “rail corrugation”.

You aren’t imagining it: London's Tube is getting louder.
No, you aren’t imagining it: the Tube is getting louder
I SAID, THE TUBE *IS* GETTING LOUDER.

Amazing story in The Times. Reform UK failed to pay VAT to HMRC on its sales (tickets, merchandise). About £400k in all.

Not tax avoidance. Not tax evasion. They just didn't realise when you sell stuff you have to charge VAT.
Managed a short walk around the block before the rain. Not much about but Geese are back on the fields and a single Redwing appeared out of some bushes, first of autumn. #essexbirding
£38bn at 2024 prices, well over £54bn projected in total. Hinckley was to open in 2017. Still waiting.

OneCoin's executives are all in prison or on the run.

Yet while the fraud was operating, Carter-Ruck was working to “silence the critics and ultimately the police.”

(Carter-Ruck never received the evidence they asked for here. But continued acting).

OneCoin claimed to be a cryptocurrency like Bitcoin.

It wasn’t. There was no blockchain - just a fake database and made-up prices.

It was a massive Ponzi fraud - and stole $4 billion from millions of victims in 125 countries.

NEW: Britain’s top libel firm, Carter-Ruck, acted for OneCoin - a $4bn crypto-fraud.

The firm threatened whistleblowers, journalists, regulators, and even the police.

Carter-Ruck's work helped the fraud continue as long as it did.

Was that a crime?
